Storing a lathe on it's side?

Thanks all, I appreciate the insights. I haven't heard from the seller so it may have already sold.

Storing a lathe on it's side?

Someone is selling a grizzly G0602 lathe on CL but they've got it sitting on it's side. Is that bad for the lathe? Context: I don't have a lathe and have been itching for one and this one popped up kinda cheap ($750). Seller claims it was never used. It's fairly tempting.

Right turns are iffy, you gotta keep the scooter straight and lean your body to the right. The drill is kinda nice down there because it doubles as an always ready kick stand. I'm tempted to try printing a gear box so I can mess with the top speed and get the drill higher off the ground.

Gentlemen, my latest contraption. It tops out at about 12mph. I used it at an autocross event last weekend and was able to putter around the 1 mile course without issue. The front wheel is a custom 3 piece setup made from ASA / TPU and uses one way bearings a keyed shaft so the front wheel...

My revisions are getting worse and worse instead of better and better lol. Oldest to newest is left to right. It's all good I'm testing things like print orientation and tweaking design features to see how quality is impacted. Silver is PLA and black is ASA.

I'm gonna do my best to avoid post processing but we'll see how it goes. Orienting the print upwards has done a good job of minimizing the spots where you can the see separate layers but I am concerned about how shiny black ASA might be. And yup I've got my printers set up for ASA. I run...

PLA Just teasing lol. Final will be ASA but I may explore other options as well if I can't get a good texture. My goal is to be able to make parts that don't look 3d printed. I'm open to recommendations if anyone has suggestions.

What a pita to design this but I finally got a v1. I spent so much time going in circles trying to get a pixel perfect match until I realized I didn't need that and should focus more on making something that prints easy Still needs more revisions but it's nice to see progress. I'm printing...

It's just on the exterior and won't be visible when installed. The inside of it is nice and smooth. I'll prob revise the model more later so that may change. I'm still early in design right now.

Been slowly learning how to reverse engineer complex shapes in FreeCAD. This window switch was kicking my **** for awhile because the top part is complex and bends in two directions but I'm getting there. Scanned with an einstar 2. My model so far. I've deviated from the design in a few spots...

Made a new case for my 3-4" micrometer. I bought the mic used and it only came with half of a case. (It's the thing on the right)

    Rebuilding a rusty XJ

Small update, I've done a lot of considering and I'll continue on the XJ. I realized if I buy a roof rack for my daily XJ I can haul larger items like interior doors up top and that'll solve my immediate needs so I ordered a low profile JCR rack. In terms of getting something to tow a car...

    Rebuilding a rusty XJ

If I finish it no way I'm selling it lol. I'm not sure the XJ would have quite enough tow capacity for what I want. Eventually I'd like to get a small car trailer for hauling my eg civic or parts cars.

    Rebuilding a rusty XJ

I feel bad saying this but I'm not sure I want to finish the XJ. I've come to realize that I really need a pickup for the projects I want/need to do and a second XJ isn't going to address that issue. A pickup is better for buying large things for DIY projects like interior doors or wood boards...

I've got a coolant funnel for bleeding coolant systems and the adapter I use the most broke. When it happened I was legit bummed for about 15 minutes because I forgot I could DIY a replacement. They aren't expensive but I need the funnel asap for a project. It's printed out of ASA and I made...
