    hanging lights from purlins

I was actually thinking about a self tapper and a washer or maybe a cable clamp to grab the eye of the hanging cable. I don't understand the comment about these lights being junk, the thread here on GJ seems to give them pretty high marks. -Eric

    hanging lights from purlins

I remember seeing on here a year ago a really slick little clamp/bracket to hang lights from Z shaped purlins in a steel building. Now that I have access to a scissor lift its time to hang my lights but I can't find the link to those clips. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and post a...

    Zoro Deals Thread

Noob question about Zoro. How often do they have these 25% off style sales? I'm looking to buy a large item (table saw) but not quite ready to pull the trigger yet. Should I expect another sale like this to come along in the next month or two? Also are the coupons only good for one shot...

    King chuck help

Hey guys, I have an old Bridgeport J-head mill and it came with a JT6 taper 1/2 drill chuck made by King. However the chuck key that came with it doesn't fit properly, it is close, but pretty sloppy. It appears to have a 5/16 pilot hole. The only lettering on the chuck is: King JT6-1/2 CAP-13...

    Thoughts on walk door size

Well I am a tall guy so I like tall doors, but I just put up a 50x60 and used a 4' man door. I am so glad I did, getting things in and out is so much easier than a 3' door.

The primary advantage of wiring them at 220 is that it halves the current per leg which would allow either fewer circuits or smaller wire size. I'll just need to make sure that the ballasts are rated for either 110 or 220.

Platonic Solid, these look great. Now a couple more questions. :) I was thinking of using flexible metal conduit between the fixtures, is there a better choice? Also as this is looking like almost 6kW of lights I would assume I would want to wire these with 220v. As for the talk about the...

They are ridge vents. There is a chain hanging down from them that lets me open close them. They are pretty common on steel buildings around here but they sure do look weird. :)

    help lighting a 50x60x16 shop

Well I'm not older, yet... but I do plan to get there someday and I hope to never move so I guess I better shoot for 80 fc. :) Platonic Solid, thanks for all the work you do helping lay out lighting for members, that is really awesome! I've attached a couple pics of the inside, the sectional...

    help lighting a 50x60x16 shop

That is an awesome site! Couple of questions: 1) is 30 ft candle about right for general lighting? 2) the list of fixtures is overwhelming. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

    help lighting a 50x60x16 shop

So my shop is finally up and it is time to figure out the lighting. The shop is 50x60 with 16' eaves and 2:12 roof pitch. I'm a bit lost when it comes to lighting it though. I'm thinking of a 4 bulb T5 HO fixture that I saw recommended on another thread...

Board & Batten - How'd they do that?

My childhood home was board and batten. But when we remodeled the addition was done with "rough sawn" 3/4" plywood with furring strips attached 10" o.c. I'm willing to bet the offset in that picture is where the 8' sheet of plywood ended... But plywood and bat is by far the most cost...

The dump next door is finally mine

I've sort of done both routes. We had an old homestead house burned on our ranch by the local volunteer fire dept. This was very cool to watch but as you already know you'd be crazy to do it with nearby buildings. We also did a down to the studs remodel of our house including removing the...
