    Floor drain in new slab

I just speculating here: But Normally I’m thinking you install a P-trap right at the drain (assuming it’s in center of room or wash area) and the building slab should hold enough heat to prevent freezing unless it drops super cold. But if you don’t install a trap and just drain to outside, you...

putting a speed control on a single phase 120 volt 3 HP motor

What model southbend do you have? I had 2 - my 9” used 3/4hp when I bought it and my heavy 10 had a 1hp. On the 9” I converted to a DC motor and controller from granger. That gave me infinite speeds (yes it looses some torque at the low speeds but that’s when you use the back gear anyway). I...

putting a speed control on a single phase 120 volt 3 HP motor

I have never seen a “legitimate” 3 hp 120v motor. Not saying it ain’t so, but my legit 1hp pulled 12 amps. If that 3 hp is real at 32 amps, would require 8 gauge wire ( might get away with 10 which is usually good to 30 amps). I’d go 230v , who the hell wants to run 8 gauge wire from your...

Interior Finish for a Smaller Tuff Shed

That’s cheaper than I paid for a 8x10 Tuff-Shed. My delivered built onsite cost was $4200. I got the double door with windows. Ordered mine from local Home Depot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Welding helmet life

Agreed: If it works use it. Don’t waste your $ on a new helmet that you’ll throw in the corner & not use for another 6 years! Spend it on something you really need. Like stronger cheaters - lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tree where my foundation needs to go -- Advice needed

What he said! Yes good response. Been there done that, had cracks in garage slab about 5 years after construction. I removed the stump shavings only but should have dug out all loose dirt and roots then replaced with clay base and pack it in let it cure and pack again after a couple of weeks...

Steel buildings - what do I need to know?

You need to know that when it's cold outside and humidity is high inside that the inside walls sweat (like a cold glass of water does). Insulate them well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    CAT6 Security system

Agreed, but you may also find the price point difference between cat5 & cat6 is so little that it won't make much of a dent on your budget. My last trip to Home Depot they were out of cat5 and it is about 30 miles to next place selling wire. It was not worth my time and gas to save 10 bucks...

    Moving things in your shop?

I second that. Bought a cheapo from Harbor Freight about 10 years ago on sale for $179 . Been good service (the neoprene coating on large wheels cracked off) but otherwise it's been real handy on moving large machines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Pex question

You said you have to cross the septic - what does that mean? If you are just crossing a sewer drain pipe, then find the pipe first, mark it, then stop when close (if using a trenching machine) and dig the part at the sewer pipe by hand so you can go under it. This way you can trench down deeper...
