    1980 BALDOR 8107WD Restoration Project

I think I'm done now. I'd rather have a belt sander than a stone and don't have guards so I mounted a Multitool 2" x 36" attachment which took some special adapting to make it fit an 8" Baldor. As you can see in the pics the Multitool is meant for a much smaller hub than what's on the 8". I made...

    Which Multitool bench grinder attachment

All mounted up and runs smooth.

    Which Multitool bench grinder attachment

I finished machining the hub adapter and now I just have to powder coat it and bore out the pulley to fit the 3/4" shaft. I know this was originally a grinder but someone years ago removed the guards and installed these (the black part) end caps, I assume to use it as a buffer. I suspect these...

    Which Multitool bench grinder attachment

Thanks, I will post when done. As for selling them? I am an amateur machinist so it takes me quite a bit longer to do than the pros that do it for a living. I might make a few more if there was an interest but I can't say that what works for my grinder would work for all 8" Baldor grinders from...

    Which Multitool bench grinder attachment

I know this is an old thread but I am currently mounting a Multitool 2x36 on my 8" Baldor grinder with 3/4" shaft. The end housing on the grinder is too big so I have to make a custom bearing cap/spacer. The hole pattern/bolt circle on the grinder is too big so the mounting bolts for the adapter...

Thanks, I did make the badge sort of. I drew/dimensioned it and found the logo outline with a google search, gave it to our laser programmer and then he gave the program to the laser operator who cut it out of 20g. stainless. I deburred, formed & powder coated it, got the stainless drive screws...

    1980 BALDOR 8107WD right side 8" guard

I finished restoring this grinder but it is missing all of the guards. I don't need one for the left because I'm running a wire wheel and buffs on that side but I'd like to run a stone on the right. I'm also not worried about getting a tool rest because I am going to mill one out of steel. 3"...

I lucked out that the shed was still in the same condition as when I found the grinder so I could get the same spot for the after pic. The reason I ran into the grinder is because we are getting ready to clear the shed out of old machinery but nothing has moved yet. It was 6 weeks from the first...

1980 8" Baldor I paid $100 for. Not real old but was in bad shape before. I had some fun with the restore.

    1980 BALDOR 8107WD Restoration Project

Thanks, I am a big Giants fan but the color combo was by accident. I knew it needed paint and I've been wanting to try these "illusion" powder colors that mimick candy colors. I really like metallic orange so that's what I wanted for the main color and the black accents were an obvious choice...

I got this finished up this evening after getting the new "motor plate" cut and powder coated. The first pic was taken 04-01-21 just 6 weeks ago. The second just now. Here is the before & after.
