17 Year old Will graduate soon & wants to go into the trades. Advice?
I taught in higher ed for many years. Be careful with for-profit schools. I think that they are generally to be avoided.

Is the Lisle a good tool set for inner tie rods?
I don't know about the tie rod set, but I have been disappointed in their torx sockets.

Vintage, unopened Craftsman Tool Set.. Opinions on age?
I have a similar tool box. I was going to say early 80s, but late 70s could be right.

Chrome sockets...the topic has been beat to death yet I don't know which way to go...
I bought a small Urrea 3/8 set a little while ago. It seems to be good quality.

3/8 or 1/2 inch ratchet and sockets
I can't say that I like using a 1/4" ratchet that much. It feels flimsy.

3/8 or 1/2 inch ratchet and sockets
For most things 3/8 does fine. You need 1/2 when you need more torque, for brake calipers, suspension parts, etc.

Yes, mine has the clip held by a screw. I'll get to work on a bracket!

Athol 613 Vice Mounting?
I have a Athol 613 vise of my grandfather's that I am trying to put back into service. The base seems to require notching of the bench or an additional bracket to affix. Any ideas?
