Many moons ago when I built this place I installed low-voltage, 12VDC undercabinet lighting. About 10 pucks fed off a common power supply. G4 bayonet xenon bulbs. While the life of these bulbs is much greater than the halogen bulbs they replaced, I’d like to change them out for LED low voltage...
I’ve built quite a few projects using nothing but #2 pine. I’m picky about grain, knots are ok. Since all the stuff is in a log home I wanted a “rustic” look. The projects are over 10 years old now, zero problems. The tops are actually 2x6 pine planed to 1”, edge glued with biscuits. FWIW, a few...
The overhang on this building helps a lot. It’s constructed on a hillside. The above photo shows the downhill side, the uphill a different story. I have to get in there with a skid steer to keep the snow from piling up. Here’s a couple before/after shots on the uphill side. Wish I’d had my dirt...
I did exactly this. 24”+ snow on a 4/12 uninsulated pole barn. (28x42). Rented a 400,000 btu torpedo. Fired it up, walked down to the house, cup of cofffee, back to the barn, mostly cleared.
After the avalanche!
Buy a primer bulb, the kind on outboard motors. Some gas tubing, squeezing the bulb a few times and it will siphon. Empty all my summer equipment/toys this way. Then run the motors on what little you can’t siphon
Bought winter contract at $1.79. 1,500 gallons. Had to sign a waiver though that left supplier an out if his wholesale price rose more than X %. The waiver was the result of a catastrophic price increase a few years ago. A regional propane facility was taken off line mid winter for maintenance...
Buy a drill motor with a built in bubble level. I’ve got a corded DeWalt, DW106 but it’s only going to keep you relatively level in one plane. Vertically, you’ll still have to eyeball the horizontal plane.
When our chocolate lab was a pup she was hell on wheels with tv remotes. As she got older her fetish turned to kitchen towels😂 then there was the occasional phone charger that had seen better days.
Same here. I had Pella casements with blinds between the glass. Within 5 years 25% were either permanently open or closed, or otherwise screwed up. Wasted money.
+2 on fans. Ive got a 2 stall here in Frostbite Falls. I've got a Garage Guy heater that's only used if I need to work on a vehicle. Used to get really damp, put in a ceiling fan, problem solved.
Both my brother and I had trouble with boring insects. He had carpenter bees in cedar siding, I had wasps, or hornets in a pine log home. We both contracted with commercial pest control companies. Don’t know what they used on his cedar, our local outfit used cyfluthrin. Problem solved. Controls...
Tried an Amflo 100, worked twice, then would not indicate pressure, sent it back. Now have a Matco, pricey, 3X the Amflo, but it works! Think it was around $95.
I’d get them pounded back up, screws would be better. Before you get something like this. Most of the duct work in the basement came down. $2,200 to replace!
