Harbor Freight tool box latch thingy

I have the 42" Harbor Freight toolbox, and years ago I moved several of the drawers from the bottom unit to the top, and vice versa. However, in order to do so I had to remove the latching mechanisms on the backs of the lower drawers (held on by rivets). Unwisely I didn't keep them as I...

    Garage chair / stool recommendation

Not much. I work in an office building, and the warning is on the doors as you enter. Like I mentioned earlier, I (and most Californians) tend to just ignore them, but I was just taken aback when I saw the warning to wash my hands after use. That was a new one to me, particularly for...

    Garage chair / stool recommendation

Then I do have something to worry about........ In all seriousness, yeah, it's just a chair, and I'm not worried about me. I was just taken aback when I saw the warning that specifically said to wash hands after use, which is a little different than the standard Prop 65 warning which I...

    Garage chair / stool recommendation

I'm looking for a pair of study, decent looking stools to relax in my garage while I'm sitting back reading a magazine. I'd prefer something that has an adjustable height, and has a backrest. I like the checkered Pitstop ones, but was wondering how study they would be being that they are...

NEED HELP: Old Briggs & Stratton / K&S rototiller

Thanks for all the help guys. Got the clutch cleaned out, fresh gas and oil, and it fired up with a nice idle, and no screeching. It does bog down a little and smoke a little more when it starts digging into the dirt, but probably no worse than it did when I was a kid.

NEED HELP: Old Briggs & Stratton / K&S rototiller

I agree, but I guess it's through rose-colored glasses that I can look back on the struggles I had tilling my parents' yard.

NEED HELP: Old Briggs & Stratton / K&S rototiller

I put some fresh oil and gas in it, and it fired right up, with a nice and smooth idle. The only thing now is to address the horrible screeching noise. Again, I can't quite tell what is causing it, although it has to be the flywheel. I tried adjusting the top cover to no effect, but I was...

NEED HELP: Old Briggs & Stratton / K&S rototiller

Thanks, this helped. I just took a few new photos but inadvertently pasted them over existing images, so the new ones are in my original post, just mixed up. Your description led me to it. i saw it originally but though it was just a cast piece of the engine body. Now to get some oil in...

NEED HELP: Old Briggs & Stratton / K&S rototiller

I'm trying to resuscitate my late-father's old Montgomery Wards rototiller that he bought 40 or more years ago. It hasn't fired up in at least 10-15 years, but I've got fond memories of using it when I was just a kid, so would like to be able to use it in our yard. However, like so many things...

Securing a glass case in earthquake country

Thanks for the link. Right now I'm thinking something along the lines of the water heater tank straps, although more elegant.

Securing a glass case in earthquake country

I've got a commercial style glass case (4 ft x 5ft x 18") in my garage that I need to do a better job of securing in case of an earthquake (toppling over would be a double fail as it would ruin the contents as well as crash into my car). The previous owner had installed velcro straps on the top...

Craftsman US made 3/4" drive sliding-t breaker bar for $12.37

Thanks for the explanation, makes sense. I was worried for a minute there that I was missing a tool all this time that would make my life easier.

Craftsman US made 3/4" drive sliding-t breaker bar for $12.37

Since half the posts on this hot deal are about Sears customer service, I figured the following slightly off topic question can't hurt. What is the advantage to a sliding breaker bar as opposed to a regular breaker bar? Seems like you would get less leverage, and could slide around too.:dunno:

Old Craftsman drill press: any info?

Since you put restored in quotes you probably know this isn't restored. _This_ is a restored Craftsman drill press: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147701 :rocker:

    44" HF tool chest drawers

The poster selling the damaged 26" HF tool cabinet got me thinking that it's worth at least posting this in case someone else has something similar. I've got the HF 44" tool cabinet with matching upper chest, and I'd like to replace the bottom deep drawer on the upper chest with two of the...
