    Cheap and reliable garage heat

Nobody mentioned a pellet stove, a little higher maintenance than a wood stove but easier then chopping wood. You can let it run all the time and check on it daily. Most are designed for use inside the house rather than in a garage or shop, talking cosmetics now. It will take some time to get it...

    Pellet Stove questions for barn

I put in a st. Croix pellet furnace in my 1600 sqft pole barn, currently it's not insulated which is like trying to heat your yard. It will bring the temp up some and will consume about a bag a day, it's rated at 50,000 btus. Regarding the chimney, I ordered mine through Menards, cleanout, up 3...

    Exhaust fan search

Why worry about matching the com of your vents? They will only allow so much through them, the rest just builds up pressure, much like a funnel when you pour water through it. Whatever that doesn't flow through fills up into the funnel.

    desk lamp to led?

My dad had one of those. If it is a Dazor, the company is still in business and it seems parts are still available, I just googled them.

On a pole barn do you pour right up to the poles

I put down visqueen first and brought that up above the finished floor, concrete was up against that. Had no problems with shrinkage or expansion.

Significant Water Issue (Under Garage Door)

Have you considered a trench drain? I have a similar issue and will be installing one shortly. I ordered it from homedepot, on sale it was $79 for three one meter sections. Don't remember the name but you can also buy direct from manufacturer for $89, search home depot for the brand.

Pole barn is up, insulation and moisture questions

Any unvented combustion heat will add moisture so you need to reconsider your type of heat if you want it dry. Your condensation may have been caused just by a temperature drop at night, also without air movement, you will always feel humidity in the air. Can't comment on spray foam, I have no...

    pellet furnace vent kit

Thanks for the advice. I spent all last night researching both brands and noticed by reading the installation instructions, it clarified some questions I had that I couldn't find elsewhere. Matter of fact, it doesn't say much on silicone caulk on anything other than the adapter piece. And...

    pellet furnace vent kit

Thanks for the replies, I think I'm going with the Selkirk, I have some Menard's money that I can use towards it.

    pellet furnace vent kit

Any suggestions on a 4" vent kit for a multi-fuel furnace? Just picked up a St Croix SCF 050 but it didn't have any vent parts.

    insulating pole barn walls

I have a 30 x 54 x 10' pole barn with no insulation. I'm starting to install a ceiling that will be from the inside up - drywall, vapor barrier and blown in insulation eventually. I have an opportunity to buy some foam panels now that are either 3" or 4" thick that I might pick up for the...

    Heating a 32x32 pole barn

I just bought a 125,000 Btu kerosene heater for my 30x54 uninsulated no-ceiling pole barn and can say that it only really heats what it blows on. I will say that I have a ridge vent as well as large openings that lead from the soffit overhangs into the building so it's almost like leaving the...

    delamination repair

I found this product: http://concretemender.com/products/roadware-10-minute-concrete-mender-2/ Looks like it might be a possibility rather than chipping it out and would leave the original surface intact for the most part.

    delamination repair

Just had a new floor poured in my pole barn, 4-5" thick 4500 psi on top of a vapor barrier. I'm finding more than a few spots of delamination. I did find one site that has a product you inject into holes drilled through the delaminated layer, this product is a 2 part urethane that looks to be...

    power washer problems

Picked up a gasket/diaphragm kit at Lowes, took all of 5 minutes to install, first pull and she fired right up and ran better than ever. Amazing how stable and smooth it ran. A storm was brewing but I was able to run a tank of regular gas through it before the rain, it ran flawlessly! Best $5...
