I can make you a longer set of jaw screws, to try and engage with "good" threads deeper in the hole, let me know if you are interested. Let me know how long your current ones are (the total length). Thanks @paulsomlo for the ping above.
I have https://www.ebay.com/itm/275490295681 already...
Just happened across this thread -- great work so far! and thank you for buying the screws I make/modify, peoples' projects keeping these classics alive is exactly why I keep making these.
Did you ever end up putting a paint job on it? If so, what kind of paint did you go with?
At a regional auction there was a heavily-used walker-turner drill press in the plant. I brought it home for about $125 to give it an easy retirement. It was in a coal-fired power plant, covered in dust and grime. I think this is probably a 50's-era, model 1200
Maybe I'll post another thread...
Hi all -- a bit of an odd request maybe ...
I am working on helping someone make replacement jaw retainer screws for their Prentiss No 21 vise. However, they do not have any of the original screws for me to base a replacement on.
Does anyone have a No21 vise and willing to help? I would...
Hi all,
I joined this forum a few years ago, and one of the things that brought me back here were Google search results for people trying to find replacement jaw retainer screws for their old vises. I was trying to find replacements for my Reed 3C vise.
There was a thread or two on here and...
Understood about the tap wrench, I am aware of that item (it is what caused me to bid on this vox lot). My questions are mainly about identifying the die stocks.
1967 Powermatic 1200 with a 1hp 3ph Robbins & Myers motor. I have not come across many like this online yet, which are the same style castings. I think the closest I came was a multi-gang industrial unit.
Shop is of course 240 split-phase at home, so I put an eBayed 2hp VFD on it.
Replaced a...
Hi everyone,
At an auction recently I picked up a set of die stock/holders, along with a ton of Greenfield T&D "Little Giant" dies, and a GTD 7-1/2 tap wrench. It seems the shop were fans of GTD tooling for some of their in-house machining and repair needs.
The smallest is a 2" die holder...
This is an idea I hadn't considered
I considered this - it is the logical explanation of what it is all for, and I came across a few drawings like the one you showed. However I still can't reason why the side of the packing gland facing the motor has a larger ID and is such a sloppy fit on...
Thanks guys. Re-reading the thread now, I see that I may have done a poor job explaining and could use a visual reference of the diameters I was trying to describe.
Below is a cross-section to try and illustrate my confusion. Please forgive the quality, it's been 15 years since I drew...
Antique pump rebuild - advice needed
Hello everyone,
While on vacation last week, a new project followed me home - an old pump with electric motor, from back in the woods behind a lakeside camp where it was their on-hand firefighting pump 50 years ago.
I have the motor running (old Century...
Hello all,
I am not sure of garden equipment may be a bit off-the-beaten-path here, but I have recently come into possession of this old tiller, complete with custom paint job. I am unable to tell what make/model it might be, and after a few hours of Internet sleuthing have not found any...
