I use a regular old wood working mitering chop saw with an 80 tooth blade and WD40.

The pinned style concrete bull float poles can be fitted with a Marvin or Jameson saw head to reach up that high with tolerable noodle effect.

Have you tired looking at different brands of carriage bolts seeing if they will fit. Broaching would be my suggestion.

I have a few speaker magnets that I keep near to where I am cutting with the abrasive chop saw. It helps, I guess, because there is dust stuck to them but are they really helping, maybe a little. Shop vac otherwise.

I would use it as is. You have a vise in hand and if the "repair" goes south you have scrap metal.

IMO being a tree guy, if you haven't broken some plastic on a saw you haven't used a saw.

I use a Bic lighter as my opener.

Can you imagine what Snap-on would charge for a SS box?! They are charging several grand for a basic mild steel box now add SS into the mix. I bet the box would double in price. I am sure Snappy would get a good price on the raw materials but would price it out of most end users pocketbook.
