I contacted Linde today and they informed me the Acetalyne tank is what they call a #2 tank and it is rated at 60 cu ft. They “only” charge $80 for an exchange. Thanks for the help everyone.
Thanks for the insight. It’s funny, they supply that same 18-36 cfh tip with their porta torch and a 10cu ft tank. You’d think there would be red caution tape all over it saying “don’t use the included cutting tip” if it was that deadly. I mean that’s 13-26 times the advised 1/7 rule on a 10ft...
I just picked these 3/4 full tanks off Facebook pretty cheap along with a Harris torch/regulator set.
I’m trying to determine the max draw I can put on the acetylene tank. It’s about 24 1/4” tall and 7 1/2” diameter. From the Internet dumpster diving I’ve done, it appears it’s a “WQ” tank with...
This has been quite the learning experience for me, so I’m glad I did it. Took the bungs off this tank and rinsed it out. I had no idea I could get such a good view of the inside of a tank without a bore scope. Anyway, it definitely looks worse than I had guessed it would. I doubt the first...
I'm starting to think I'm over-thinking this. If it was separating, it would leak like a screen door. The paint bridges seem to indicate it hasn't moved since it was painted. According to the tag, it was tested and certified in Aug of 2018. It had a 2-stage pump on it and the set cutoff pressure...
Thanks guys. So you wouldn't be scared of this tank after a wire brush cleaning and a little touch up paint? I'm cheap, but not so cheap I'll risk a compressed air bomb.
I just picked up a used Kobalt 30 gallon air compressor with a bad pump. I just wanted it for the tank. I aired it up to 145 psi and it's holding fine. I then noticed this weird seam on the back. It looks like sloppy paint work to me, but I'm no expert. My concern is if this is a bad weld or...
Title pretty much says it all. Will be installing a 18-24k btu mini split as well. Just looking for a rough price for insulation and drywall materials. Want to be able to have it be at least 55 degrees in the dead of winter. We’re house shopping so I don’t have dimensions. Any info appreciated.
