I put a bead of hot melt glue on both sides where the wire attaches to the hub. Pretty much eliminates the problem of wire flying off.

I've got a least 30 utility knives scattered about, and maybe a dozen tape measures.

Guess if I need something gas powered I will be buying it on one of my annual trips to Nevada or Arizona.

I have found that even in an unopened tube the silicone will eventually harden and be unusable.

Could be, but I'm not sure anything could fix this guys problem for obvious reasons.
