    Old Vise, Worth It?

Currently, I use an old Rock Island 674 but find I can use a larger vise at times. After reading all the replies, and doing some research online, I think that $150 is max I'd pay for this one. However, something tells me they won't come down much, if at all, on the price but, we'll see.

    Old Vise, Worth It?

Thanks guys, It is in a store that asks more than most others so I figured it might be overpriced, especially since it's been there for at least 3 years that I know of. I think I'll give them an offer of $150 next time I'm there and see how it goes. It is missing the pipe jaws(thanks notlob...

    Old Vise, Worth It?

I've seen this old vise sitting in an antique store for the last three years now and was hoping that someone would buy it just so I could stop thinking I want it but, every time I go back, there it is. They're asking $395 for it which isn't bad considering it's age and the shape it's in. What do...

    Equipment foot brake/lock

Excellent, thanks guys. I used every search word I could think of except "floor". I was beginning to think I'd have to use locking casters.

    Equipment foot brake/lock

Starting to build all my shop workbenches and plan on having a 4X6 rolling one in the center of my workspace. I've never used a caster brake that I liked so I decided to add an over the center brake to each side like the one in the picture. I can't seem to find them anywhere on the web mainly...

    Body Shop collapsed

Wow! I looked up that building on Google Earth and it has a roof with 21000 SF so, with a mild 20 pound snow load, it would have weighed 424,000 pounds. With a night of rain, who knows...maybe double that.

    My little dream garage

Nice work. I really like those workbenches and plan on building the same type for my shop. Any chance you might post some close-ups of them to show how they were built?

Noggs 20x26 in WI (Big Plan/Small Budget)

I like the tall walls. I'd be building a bunch for that garage. I built all the cabinets (8 total) for my last garage on a budget over 20 years ago. They were made out of 5/8" particle board, framed and reinforced with 1by pine, lagged to the wall studs and very strong. I collected the door...

    Small Hobby Shop

I've done the same thing on other projects because of labor cost. I'd hate to think what it would have cost me to have my shop built by a local contractor. I haven't started the inside yet but I'm guessing 1500.00

Noggs 20x26 in WI (Big Plan/Small Budget)

Congrats on the house. A 20x26 garage is a nice size for the cars and to work in. The key is to have as much storage as possible. My last garage was 20x22 and I utilized every inch of wall space for cabinets which made it very easy to organize. I moved and the new garage is 25x27 and a mess...

In my last house I used a piece of plexiglass in a frame at the ceiling level on on the skylights and it made a significant difference.
