Honestly, less is more. The less work you do on it the better in terms of originality and sometimes value. Finishes like lacquer can be lightly sanded and reapplied.

You did not mention taps and dies but I'm looking for a few stamped with USS and SAE to complete a set.
I am looking for early Sears sockets to complete a mixed set that I have. I have an extra Plumb style ratchet 1/2inch male square if anyone needs one.

Used Greenfield sets can be bought fairly cheaply and if you know how to check for sharpness sharpen them the used taps and dies can be a steal for you.
