Is that cast iron? If so, and you have the broken off piece, you can just mig weld it back on. I recently completed a similar repair to the hand crank on my mill and it turned out just fine.

I use Muriatic acid (Hydrochloric acid) to strip zink before welding. Many have it around for pool or cleaning use. It will strip off zinc coating almost instantly leaving that nice bare steel for welding. I just soak the part in Muriatic acid for a couple of minutes. Watch...
