    Removing a switched outlet

The easy way, I just replaced it with a new one. I had several laying around.

    Removing a switched outlet

I ended up capping the red on both sides. I figure in 10 years when I look at this again, maybe I will have a better chance of making sense of what was there and remembering there even was a switched outlet.

    Removing a switched outlet

I have a duplex outlet that has one socket switched. I want to make hot all the time so that I can eliminate the switch and put a different switch in in the box. What is the best approach? The switch and outlet both have an always hot black k wire and a switched red wire. Should I remove the...

Pressure Treated Wood Fence Against Cedar Hedge

What happens when you cut it back, install the fence, and then there are spiders on the fence? Moving the diving board seems like the easiest and lowest cost option.

Simple way to integrate talking Kidde Smoke / CO Alarms into SmartThings

All a great concept, but at any given time 3 of the sensors are offline, on average. Usually pulling the battery for...

How to cut round hole in concrete floor?

No kidding. A certified installer put in my radon system, and I’m lucky the house didn’t burn down with his shoddy electrical work.

    Freezer Thaw Alarm

I have been looking for similar, but all I can share so far is to avoid the Honeywell security system temperature sensor 5821. I have a Honeywell security system already, so I could simply get a local alarm and a phone call if the temp were to rise. This doesn’t monitor the exact temp, but...

    Baseboard in garage

I would paint it, but the drywall does not go all the way down to the stem wall.
