I've had this vice for a while but have not been able to identify it. I am soaking it now in Rust 911 so hopefully I will find some markings after cleaning it up. It has 4 dots on the static jaw and 4 dots on the dynamic jaw. The main screw has a shield made from what appears to be galvanized...
Cleaned up the Parker 63 1/2, after deciding to keep the patina! Before I make my own drop in pritchel tool, I'm inquiring if anyone has one available. Looks pretty easy to make if not. Pic of vise and what's missing :) Thanks
Very nice! I decided to clean up the Parker 63 1/2 and keep all of the patina on it! The brass (not copper on mine - very thick stiff brass!) jaw covers have some cool "history" in them! Here are a few pics (one next to the Prentiss Gipsey). The jaws have no engraving of a brand. I assume...
It pulled right up and I was shocked. Clearly the man who bought it a week ago did not even try to pull on it! Then the jaw easily pushed to the side! I made sure I paid for it before demonstrating it  I don't see too many of these Columbian adjustable jaw vises but the price was right!
Just received by FedEx today a cool looking Parker 63-1/2 vise. It's missing the pritchell tool and the swivel handle is made from a round head machinist's bolt. The neatest thing is the thick brass jaw protectors! I'm looking forward to cleaning this one up for one of my sons!
COLUMBIAN 404-1/2 ADJUSTABLE JAW, SWIVEL VISE - Purchased my first Columbian vise at a garage sale. The gentleman told me he bought it a week earlier at an estate sale in central Florida and he had to remove it from the bench. He knew nothing about the vise. After I paid him, I showed him how...
Purchased this Columbian 404-1/2 swivel jaw, swivel base vise today. Seller picked it up at an estate sale here in central Florida and only owned it a week. He had no idea it was a swivel jaw vise. The pin pulled out easily and the jaw swiveled just as easily. Doing research today I estimate...
I found another vise (#67) online and it appears that is the way the collar goes. Solved by myself but leaving this online for other Gipsey owners someday.
I purchased this Gipsy Prentiss No. 65 vise and have a question about the collar on the screw. It came as shown in the first picture and with some very patient soaking with Kroil and gentle wedging, I was able to get the collar removed. Is this the proper orientation of the collar? It is too big...
The slot in center boss measures 1" side and 2-3/4" deep. I can feel that it is square inside to accept a large square headed bolt. I cut a hole in the middle of a piece of cardboard which allowed me to trace the exact dimension of the outside diameter of bottom of the vise and it is exactly 10"...
