New 22x40 garage floor Ont Canada

I am interested and in the same place and predicament. But just a few questions...heated? going to be any road going vehicles parked in it during winter? (salt and sand) I am leaning along the lines of a polyurea paint or similar one part DIY durable paint. This way, can be touched up...

Snap on tools... is it worth it?

Tool distribution is not for everyone. It is not slowing down due to online sales, it is one of the few businesses that brings the store to their customers and sees the same people every week or two. Long hours and the ability to wear many hats and deal with all sorts of people and situations...

    Furnace shutting down for overtemp

It is mainly about your outlet temperature and delta T. Delta T should be stamped on unit or in instruction manual. Where did you take your outlet temperature reading? Anyway to test the temperature right beside Overtemp Switch? Temperatures sound normal to me, which mean flows sound good.

Opinions on a good punch and chisel set?

Doubt any chisels or punches are lifetime warranty. Maybe 30 day defect warranty. They are a consumable.

Home built outdoor wood furnace. **** or blow the heat??

I would think that you would want to **** the colder air and blow it across the hot air box. Cold air, although not much colder, is more dense so you should get more air flow that way. I am also thinking I would prefer a pressurized hot air box vs under vacuum in case of a leak in the fire box...

New Gray Canada sockets (Pic heavy)

Not family owned, don't know the whole back story but seems that top managers from with in the company took over from Alex Gray who was 70 years young. Still a Canadian owned company that seems to try to sell Canadian produced tools when they can and it makes sense. Can be nice tools, but they...

    shed foundation vs frost line

Location? I live in Northern Ontario and have a frost line deeper than 48". Most garages and sheds are built on a floating slab. Remove the topsoil, try not to disturb anything else, compact, fill with crushed gravel (4" plus), compact, level, form and pour. Use good concrete and lots of...

    Critique my Boiler Heater Board.

Looks like a clean and well thought out build. All I will add or re-iterate is soldered connections are more leak proof then threaded. Brass and copper have less issues with corrosion, sludge and galvanic corrosion (all brass/copper/stainless or with dielectric unions). I just look at my...

    new garage cracked floor

I live in Ontario also and had a local contractor pour a 30x40 pad. They did not cut control joints, this is how they normally do it, I have minimal cracking. It has been a year. We must use 32 MPa air entrained concrete that resists freeze thaw and salt better. How many garages in Ontario...

Advice requested regarding heater/boiler unit for home radiator system

I would get another tech to pin point your CO issue. Could be not enough draft/poor combustion, crack or failed seal. For anyone reading this, I can not stress enough how important it is that your pressure relief valve is in good condition and connected directly (no valves, or reducers) to the...

Any truss experts here? Sagging question.

To sum it up, I think there is proper design and construction. But most areas, states, provinces build differently for reasons specific to the region. I for one was told and just ran my OSB up to the bottom of the top chords. Nailed the OSB well to the wall, top plates and rafter ends. I...
