Thoughts on BendPak Round vs Square Lift Pads

When you hit the square ones with a car tire it can puncture the sidewall. The round ones just rotate with the hit. Don't ask me how I know this.

    Smart Switch for Compressor???

Thirty years ago I moved into my new shop building. I bought a new air compressor from Sam's Club, a Campbell Hausfield Black max 5 hp 80 gallon tank for $600. Had the electrician wire it up and turned it on. The only time it has been turned off is when I replaced the drive belt 3 years ago...

Badger-Powhatan 2.5 Gallon Water Fire Extinguisher - Any use?

They are much better than a Super Soaker for water fights.

Why are Snap-On toolboxes so expensive?

I have been a professional automotive technician for 44 years. 37 years ago I bought a used Snap-On bottom box and I still use it everyday. For the past 20 years there has been multiple S-O dealers in my area, and they never last more than 6 months. When a new dealer shows up in my area, it...

What was your first OBD2 scanner, and how did you choose it?

I bought my GM Tech ll in 1995. I use it everyday! I have had to replace a couple of cables, but otherwise it's really bomb-proof and has made me a bunch of $$.

    Tire Mounting Machine Issues

Find the air switching valve for the bead breaker and take it apart and clean it. They get gummed up with dirt and corrosion. Do you have an air filter on the supply line at the tire machine? They help a lot. Good Luck!

How do 20g under lift oil drain tanks vent?

I have 2 of these in my shop that have been used for the last 20 years. Your description of the emptying process is not complete. That big ball valve on the "funnel" pipe at the top of the tank must be closed before any air pressure is applied to the tank. If it is left open, oil will shoot up...

Lawn mower for 1 acre lot

I had a little too much to drink at the Livestock auction and bought a goat for $5. Took him home and tied him off in the back yard, next day I had to move him 'cause he ate all the grass, weeds and even some toys! Went to the auction the next week and bought him a girlfriend ($17) and now we...

    Anyone ever seen this before.

jay23 is a bot meant to stimulate witty convversation on GJ ! I think that could be fixed with multiple coats of paint.

    Adding opening to grain silo?

I grew up in this area of eastern Washington. It's a really dry climate, so no worries about corrosion. In the late sixties my Dad bought 2 Stor Mor grain bins for our farm, and my 2 older brothers and I bolted those things together. The were only 12 feet in diameter but about 16 ft tall. We...

    20'x20 Storage shed plans.

So, you have a 50" wide access gate that you will be moving 3 storage units worth of **** in and out of. You will never get to use the shed for yourself if you are storing **** for free. Have a storage unit sale and send the $ to a good charity. If your siblings wanted this **** they would...

Buying a new U.S. General Series 3 or Icon from Harbor Freight vs. a used Snap-On or Matco toolbox

I have been an automotive technician since 1981. In 1987 I bought a 10 year old used Snap On bottom box and a 3 year old used Mac top box. They are still in use today and pathetically small compared to what a lot of techs have, but they hold my **** and are antiques at this point. As far as...

What to put in which drawer!!??

Years ago I worked at a large dealership and there was a Tech named "Sarge". He was a retired Army Mechanic and only worked at the dealer for something to do, better than watching TV, he always said. His toolbox was at best maybe a shoebox or some old parts box, and most of his tools were just...
