Which Pump to Empty a Hot Tub?

I have had 4 different hot tubs the last 20 years. I have never seen a hot tub that didn’t have at least 1 garden hose thread drain. It has never taken me longer than an hour to drain a hot tub if the garden hose you are using doesn’t have a kink. I have not really had any trouble with any of...

Powering a compressor & shop with a generator...

Short answer is that it will not work. You will not be able to start the compressor motor when the compressor has to start and overcome the pressure that is already in the system. That compressor motor is probably drawing 30-40 amps at startup.

Will this junction box hold a ceiling fan?

This box already has a fan support bracket attached. It should be more than sufficient. Jack

Cordless Trimmer / Lawn Equipment Lines

I have the Stihl line. String trimmer, chainsaw, hedge clipper, pole saw, and blower. They are all great. I have 2 chargers, and four batteries. That way, I can always keep working. I think my wife designed it that way. I have abused the string trimmer, and it has never balked or failed...

    Fence issue(longwinded)

Alex, I think that a picture would help immensely here. Also, it wouldn't hurt to explain the situation to your neighbor, and see what they say. If I was your neighbor, I would be cooperative in the effort, as fences are something that both sides have to live with...

Klein warranty exchange at Home Depot?

Redsox, When you say that they "have seen better days", it sounds as if they are simply worn out. The warranty is not for regular wear and tear, it is for defects. If the tool is broken, blade chipped, etc. I guess that you can try, but tools don't last forever. When I wear out a tool...

    Equiptment Recommendation?

You dig with the backhoe, and put it in a pile, and scoop up the pile with the front end loader when it gets big enough. That's how I do it with my Struck MagnaTrac, which is similar sized, but has tracks. It goes rather quickly once you get in the groove. Jack

    Equiptment Recommendation?

With small backhoe/loader unit, you can move a lot of dirt with the loader bucket. I don't really see why you would need the power barrow. Maybe I.m not seeing something? Jack

    Equiptment Recommendation?

Teg, We're all a little crazy. Nothing wrong with that. My whole point was that a small backhoe/loader would do the same work as the excavator and power-barrow. Using the excavator to load the power wheelbarrow is limited by the size of the bucket and the finesse of the operator. Also is...

What is the best coating for a garage floor?

Justin, Thanks for the coatings summary! Very informative, and to the point. A good starting point for deciding on a floor finish. Jack

    Equiptment Recommendation?

Do you guys have any experience with an excavator or backhoe? There is a pretty good learning curve with this stuff. Some people pick it up right away. Others...... See if they will let you try the unit at the yard. If available, I would get a small backhoe/front-end loader. Terramite or...

    Water Flow Sensors

Flappers are not the only cause of leaks in a toilet. Make sure that the water level in the tank is not above the overflow tube. If it is above the overflow, you are loosing water, and the fill valve needs to be adjusted or replaced. Jack

Kitchen outlet amps? 15 or 20?

What size is the floor tile? Jack

Kitchen outlet amps? 15 or 20?

Brent, As far as the tile goes - Really depends what is under the Durock. 1/4" Durock might be OK depending on the subfloor. I would still try to negotiate with your primary contractor, and explain your concerns. Can you send some pictures? I would like to see the color differences in...
