    Intro/My First Garage

I am of the same mind of do it once and then that is good. However, I have found that my skills changed, focus changed over the years and my garage had to change with me. Vehicles can be moved out, and probably should be, when you are working in the garage. The old flying piece of wood or...

Garden Shed - Pre-Fabbed or onsite built?

We bought one from Costco, plastic type shed, that has held up pretty well over the last five years. Had to make sure there was a firm foundation, cement blocks, for the floor. I think it is a 10x12. No maintenance of which I am very grateful. ray

    My mess in Canada

Well, I am slowly getting the mess under control. The car, in case you are curious, is a 1970 Acadian SS350. On the outside looking in Best way I could find to store jackstands. Now I know where the jacks and the jackstands are. Tool cabinets. The Norton box is one that I picked up for...

    Jack Stands

That is probably the reason it is not ratcheting. I will uncover it and see if that fixes it. Thank you. Am I on the right track with the welding plans? Ray

    My mess in Canada

These are a couple of pictures of my garage. This is before I started the latest reorg. Then I discovered that my engine had some problems and needed to be fixed: My longest "bench" is on wheels, so it can be moved. Also the craftsman thing could be picked up and moved. The car is...

    Jack Stands

These are three of my stands. You will see one has a piece missing and the other has the same piece that looks like it is failing. The third looks okay. This is a close up of the stand where the weld seems to be failing. This is how the other two started out. I am guessing that if I...

    Jack Stands

That makes sense. I have this stray piece of metal on my floor. I bet that is where it came from. Thanks. ray

    Jack Stands

I will get some pictures tonite. I cannot figure out why it will not ratchet. It will go up but not down. The pawl will not flip back when you pull the leaver up. Sorta useless under the car. Ray

    Jack Stands

I think this is what I will try. A friend of mine has a welder and I will get him to see if the ones I have can be patched. Probably better than rebuying the same problem!! ray

    Jack Stands

My Fab capabilities are not that great. Don't have a welder but I do have a friend that does. You are right. All of the stands in the 40-125 region seem to be built exactly the same. Some have better welds than others. Thanks Ray

    Jack Stands

I was looking at my row of jack stands and realized after buying the stands on sale, I got less than I paid for. On my 6 ton ones, the weld at the top is failing and on a couple of the three ton, the ratcheting does not work. The six ton ones are at the place I do not want to get under the...

The first Gray Canada OE wrench in forty years

I am still using my Gray wrenches that my dad bought in the late 40s early 50s. Not the most pretty of wrenches but work really well!! ray

    Bulk wire storage

I am in the process of reorganizing the garage and I am finding that I need to store my spools of automotive wire in a more accessible fashion than in a box. I thought about using a peg board and long pegs for each gauge. Does anyone have a better idea? Ray
