    Starrett precision paperweight?

Yes thank you I have a china version of the 199. A bit less sensitivity is what I am after with the 98-8. I would like to have more hash marks for reference. So even though the advice is currently two to one in favor of not replacing the vial I plan to do so. Obviously it's a matter of opinion...

    Starrett precision paperweight?

Now that I've seen the process on you tube I have to admit that it looks like a challenging project. But if it were easy then just anybody could do it.

    Starrett precision paperweight?

Let me know where they're available for $20. Starrett wants $111 and amazon $131. That's for part # PT99431

    Starrett precision paperweight?

I recently acquired this used Starrett level which was advertised as a 98-8 model. The only markings are the starrett brand. It does measure eight inches long but there are only two graduations on the vial. It seems rather worthless since the bubble is also wider than the graduations.

    Wire type for old motors

I asked the question at the end of another thread. What kind of wire is used for the internal portion of these antique motors? Mine is circa 1948 on a model 100 craftsman drill press. I'm referring to the cloth like wiring and not the windings. I have not as yet seen any mention of repairing or...

The Vintage Craftsman GP Motor Thread

There's a lot of information about re-conditioning these old motors but I haven't seen very much mentioned about the wires inside of them. Mine are in poor condition but I'm not sure what type of wire to use as a replacement. I have an ample supply of THHN stranded wire. Thoughts?

The Ancient and Independent Order of Oddfellows (Adjustables, that is...)

I didn't see an example of this model. 8 1/2" Eifel geared plierwrench. A small jaw and a tubing cutter jaw. Made by AMER.PLIERENCH CORP (their spelling).

Craftsman 100 drill press color/horsepower questions

I did make a nut but I'm not understanding the two flat angles thing.

Craftsman 100 drill press color/horsepower questions

I think the paint has just faded rather than being a re-paint. I have the quill lock but I need to make a nut for it.

Craftsman 100 drill press color/horsepower questions

To the best of my knowledge so far I have a 1948 model 100. The motor plate says 1/3 hp and is stamped J1 48. I don't see any reference to a blue / green color on these machines or any motors other than the half hp. This is a floor model and looks to be fairly original and unmolested except for...
