    New shop build

Are you going to insulate the walls? You may want to check out the high abuse wall board, that stuff takes a beating but finishes just like normal drywall. There is a supply place in Huntsville called Marjam that either carries or can get the high abuse stuff. It is just as tough if not more so...

    The basic framing question thread

Don't forget to match your stud and truss layout. This way your truss sits directly over a stud.

OSB on Ceiling - To Strap or Not to Strap

7/16 osb on 24" center should not sag, but I would cut it so the joints break on the trusses. You may have to scab a short 4' length of 2x4 to a truss every once in a while but it's the right way to do it. Stagger your joints so don't have a 4 way intersection in your ceiling. And post...

    working with (wedding) rings

I usually take mine off when I need the extra wiggle room working in small spaces, but I'm thinking it's coming off for good after seeing some pictures of these ring related injuries.

    Really stupid moves

Enough talking about the fire crotch, that ***** is in jail finally! :lol_hitti I broke numerous windshields trying to glue rear view mirrors back on when I was an Audi tech. The mirror has a death grip on the button that pulls the glass touching the glue out of the windshield. That's fun...

    Really stupid moves

A couple of years ago I had a camper that mainly stayed in the backyard, but came out for Nascar races twice a year. There is a about a 10 ft wide spot beside the house that the camper has to be backed through. In that 10 ft space close to the house resides my natural gas meter. I am a good...

    Really stupid moves

Back in my younger and dumber days (that I still haven't completely graduated from) I was replacing the rear shoes on my 82 Jeep Cherokee. This was back when pliers were my tool of choice for anything other than removing nuts and bolts. I remember not being able to stretch one of the springs...

    garage wall covering ideas?

You could hang a layer of drywall over a layer of plywood. More money but nice results and the ability to hang whatever where ever with out finding a stud, except for really heavy stuff.

    I know Harbor Freight, but

Just send me the 90 bucks and save yourself the disappointment. I'll put it towards the refilling my beer fridge fund.

What brand lift do you have?

So I see BendPak posted a link to this thread on their facebook page. It's nice to see companies paying attention to this board. I would buy a BendPak, but I don't think my neighbors would like to see it mounted to the driveway since I lack a shop big enough for one. :headscrat

Best excuses to tell the wife why you have to go out and work in the garage.

:lol_hitti The fridge all of a sudden quit the whole self replenishing thing, damn cloths quit washing themselves, and all of this extra room appeared on the bathroom counter.

    Just Curious about Insulation

If there is any horizontal blocking in the stud cavities, blowing in insulation will not work. Rip it down and do it right. This should yield more time to drink beer whilst making upgrades. Might as well throw in some more outlets and some wires for surround sound speakers, or cable TV...

    Quote to hang drywall....

Mark the center of the box, then after the sheet is tacked up cut it out with a router with a guide point rotozip bit. Push into the drywall move over until you hit the box, pull out a little to get to the outside of the box, then cut counter clockwise. Super easy, kinda dusty, good results.

Best excuses to tell the wife why you have to go out and work in the garage.

Mine used to whine about all the time I spent working on stuff, then she moved 480 miles away. Problem solved.

How to break up a concrete bumper

I like that idea. Or pay the neighbor's teenager $10 to get rid of it for you.
