If the door is up above your head, the springs would bottom out. Springs do not have that much tension to lift.

Good thinking, I have already made hinges like this as well as a number of others in the process. Just did not work well. One different concept had worked very well except when it had to go around a corner or had to bend. Straight up would have worked very well.
