That's a good one!
I've sheared off a harbor freight 1/2" drive torque wrench trying to remove an axle nut in a junk yard. A large cheater pipe was involved. Don't judge!
I think Armstrong makes the only Made in USA ratcheting wrenches. I've never tried them as the price is too much for my wallet however the pictures make me drool.
Lots of fans here of the Snap-On TL72
I'm personally split between the Armstrong Maxx 60 tooth locking flex and the Snap-On TLL72. I use the 1/4" drive as my main ratchet and only grab the 3/8" when I need to.
Well as another shade tree mechanic who just works on all his cars, I don't own or feel the need for any impact sockets.
Why? Because I don't use an impact for anything I do. I am not in a rush trying to beat the clock like a flat rate professional mechanic. I can take the time to wait for the...
I always have my leatherman on me. Other than that, it depends a lot on the vehicle. A knipex plier wrench can take the place of a wrench set in most cases. A lot of times it can be an electrical issue that leaves you stranded so I like to keep a bit of wire and some cheap cheap crimp connectors...
Thanks for the TLL72 ratchet! I love the super long handle!
It was packaged very well and shipped very fast. He was always very fast to reply to all my PMs.
Thanks again!
Nice description of how they make the tools. Several people have said in this thread that the quality of the Nepros chrome surpasses that of snap on. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person once my socket sets arrive!
Interesting comparison. Looks like Hazet is consistently the biggest. While Hazets are also probably the strongest, I think that for spark plug sockets, thinner is better. Looking at the design for the Zeal sockets, you can see how Ko-ken really focused on making them as narrow as possible...
You guys just cost me another $55!
I had previously bought VIM triple square sockets and was very happy with the quality. Looking forward to seeing this order in the mail.
Edit: They shipped Monday and arrived today! Nothing like unexpected overnight shipping. The security torx set is very nice...
That is a great idea! I would be tempted to replace all of my Wright sockets if they did that.
ArcStyles: I've haven't had the Ko-ken extensions long enough to really put them to really hard use/abuse but after a month of garage wrenching (including removing, taking apart, putting back...
I don't know about the Nepro extensions but Koken offers the wobble plus style. I picked up the 6 piece 1/4" drive set and loved it enough that I ordered the 3/8" drive set as well. I picked Koken over Nepro for extensions because the love the knurling right near the female end that prevents...
Thanks for the replies!
I ended up ordering the Nepro spark plug socket set and the 12 piece 1/4" drive 6pt shallow socket set. Since I didn't see any pics in this thread of the spark plug sockets I'll post them once they arrive in the mail.
I've never tried a magnet or a spring clip spark plug...
