Burnt lamp on my timing ligth? or something else?

Hi, My timing light doesn't flash anymore. I've owned it for about 30 years, and I've used it just a few times... Last time I've used it, it was OK (2 years ago). Now I'm trying to use it but it doesn't flash. It has a Xenon lamp, p/n 64200200. I don't even see a brand name on the gun. If you...

Old vise, is it a good one, before I buy it.

Hi, I cam across this vise, inexpensive, with some some rust. What is it? It has 5" jaws. I don't know the brand/model. Is it worth buying and restoring. It has also pipe jaws. Thanks

    Lift in a 10' garage...

They made the center truss as to ensure it is strong enough to being capable of supporting the roof load, which is being transmitted to it by the canted legs from the roof connected to this center truss.

    Lift in a 10' garage...

See some photo of opened truss for lift. These are big, But yours having strong roof rafters (looks about being 2 X 8 or 2 X 10) compared to regular trusses made with 2 X 4, I believe you'll end up with simple truss structure. Truss maker shop is best place for establishing the design of it.

    Lift in a 10' garage...

The structure that you have is not really truss. They made some sort of support structure. It looks to me easy to modify by building truss integral with the current roof rafters (1 by 1), that would then become trusses, with the lower portion of this new truss being 1 to 3 feet (easily) above...

worst day you've had in the shop

Re: worse day you've had in the shop 2 hrs ago, the fluorescent fixture (2 tubes 8 ft long) fell down from the ceiling in my garage. Installed by the original home owner (12 years ago). The 4 screws were screwed only into plastic gyproc wall plug, no hard mount thru wood. This is no ****...

Garage extension; optimal size and ceiling height

Hi, I'm adding an extension to my garage (internal dimensions of existing garage of 20' 6" X 20' 6") since it is too small and the height which is 9' 1" currently will not accomodate a 4 post lift. I can make this extension up to 13' wide X 24-26' long (internal dimensions). In that extension...

    Where to place cabinets (pic)

I put mine at a good height from the floor, to ensure reach. Then you can use the top as a shelf if needed. If they're to high, it's hard to reach stuff. See my set-up in post #6 http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=131703 Take care.

    new

Hi I checked your Video. Pretty nice set up. I was wondering about a 2 post lift, but my garage (residential) height is not that high at 8' 9". How much is yours, I see you can sit under your pick-up, you can't stand but still this is useful a lot for many jobs. In my case it would be for a...

    Lets see your workbench

Hi Steevo and 036.6turbo, Thanks for the kind comments. The mural was self printed on a large rool of paper (mural is spliced half way). At first I felt bad putting the workbench and cabinets in front of it. I feel very lucky to have a similar golf view looking right out on the other side of...

    Lets see your workbench

Here is mine. My garage is a 2-car 20.5" X 21", so I tried to pack stuff. I had 3 Craftsman base I bought for the purpose of making a workbench unit. Then I managed to find on local internet classified ads a maple butcher top. I sanded it and applied varnish. It turned out pretty nice, I...
