I put in a Valley Comfort VC 95 wood stove. you can kind of see it in the corner in the photo, furthest from the man and overhead doors. I ordered the factory blower kit for it and will probably put a box fan in the garage somewhere as well
I should have the ceiling drywall done tonight...
Another question
I installed vapour boxes around all my outlets/switch boxes etc
Do i tape the vapour barrier to the boxes or use acoustical sealant where the vapour box and barrier over lap, or both
Also would should i insulate the cavity inside the vapour box (the space bwtween the...
I went to my local home building store that all the garage material came from and they dont even stock the blue tape, and said use the red. So red it is for me
Hello
I just finished wrapping my new 30x40 this weekend and this week will be working on insulating and vapor barrier this week
I was just told today that there is now a blue tuck tape thats supposed to be used for vapor barrier instead of the red tape
Does anyone know the reason for it? in...
This one from Home Hardware would probably be the preferred of the 2 newmac wood stoves for me. Higher BTU and the ability to open the top to cook on would be very nice for out in the garage

with the first 8 inches of snow on the ground here in ontario I have realized that i have put off buying a wood stove for the 30x40 detached garage i built this summer.
I was planning to put in a valley comfort VC95 and just got off the phone with the supplier and apparently something changed...
I just submitted our rough plans for our new build to our architect using
Homestyler.com
For what you need to do, draw walls, rooms etc its simple and its all to scale. You shouldnt draw your own plan on that software thats cheap and expect to build a house from it. Hire a professional to do...
Has anyone found a Canadian supplier for the fixtures on Page One with reasonable shipping and prices? The 2 places i have called its cheaper for me to get them shipped to the boarder and drive to the states, and pay the duty and taxes
Edit: I got a price from a Canadian suppler.
25/fixture...
this might be a winner. Apparently Valley Comfort no longer is certified to Canadian CSA standards and can no longer be purchased. I am going to take a look at this stove this weekend while its on sale...
It is going to be a busy summer.
The more i look i think i will be going with a wood stove and some fans. I dont think we will ever see natural gas but as i age perhaps i will have no interest in cutting wood and will do another small boiler off propane for the garage
As for a loop from the...
We are building a new house on our property, and the old house was indoor wood furnace so insurance coverage isnt a worry.
We dont have natural gas but i want the lines in the pad so if we ever get gas, i can easily do in floor heat
most of our neighbourhood is outdoor boilers and my wife has...
i dont know if it makes a difference but this link is more or less what i have in mind with just the one man door on the side. The wood stove would be on the end opposite the man door

I will be building a 29x43 detached garage this spring.
The footings and frost walls are there now, and in the spring the pad will be poured. I was thinking i might run lines for in floor heat in the pad since its cheap and easy to do, but i dont want to do a boiler for the garage because i...
