Someone gave me an old sears craftsman 1.5hp compressor. the the says its from 1977, motor wired for 230v but has a normal 3 prong plug. So I guess my question is, isn't 230v the same as 220v? Are the plugs different? I have a 220 recept in my garage but the plugs is different. Any information...

my dad gave me this old craftsman stick welder 220v. I dont know anything about it, except he said his friend rebuilt the inside, (not sure what that means). My questions is whats it worth? Is it worth keeping, selling? I have a new lincoln mig welder so I havent even tried to use this. Thanks

So how do you guys clean the steel plate? It has a little surface rust nothing bad, but i need to clean everything off of it to weld it in place. What is the most efficient way to do this? Seems like using a grinder would take forever.
