Left HF empty handed today ...

I was in there two days ago to get a couple of cheap grinders. I noticed that the popular US General roller cab has gone up to $599. The girl at the checkout told me that they will no longer be allowing the use of multiple 20% coupons on the same day by the same person. Anyone else come across...

    Bosch customer service

I was having a problem with my Bosch Jigsaw and called the customer service line. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and solved my problem. Like you, I was surprised to be speaking to a real person, in the USA, who spoke plain english.

Auto-techs... when to replace front rotors?

Brake discs are made of cast iron, they do not warp. The pulsation you feel when braking is the effect of uneven pad deposits on the surface of the disc. Whenever I have gotten a brake pulsation I have installed some Hawk Blue race pads (very aggressive) and driven around the block a few times...

    Compressor debate. Kobalt vs. Husky

I'm not sure those Harbor Freight units have enough cfm to run die grinders very well, but you will probably be ok with an impact gun.

    oil changes and other wrenching

I do quite a few oil changes for friends and neighbors, but the best and worst cars are the ones I own. The easiest is my 2005 GTO, the oil filter is vertical and easy to get to. Skid plate bolt and oil drain plug are both 13mm. The worst car I have encountered is my Wife's 2002 Jetta. You...

    Framing in a basement

I had to do the same thing with my laundry room window. Including the window sill, I had to fill out about 8". I ripped down some poplar 1x10 to make a nice frame around the window, but I still haven't gotten around to painting it yet :)

    Framing in a basement

When I finished the laundry room area of our basement I used the rigid foam board on the walls, left a 2" space, and then framed with 2x4 studs. For the floors I used 2'x2' wooden tiles that have plastic channels underneath them to allow any moisture or water to still drain to the sump pit. The...

    HF Red cart alert.

I was looking at that cart the other day when I was in the store. It's quite big and looks very well made, the only thing I personally didn't like was the latch mechanism on the drawers. Still, it's a great deal for the money.

    Budget Homebuilt Cabinets

You did an excellent job on the cabinets, I really like the use of pegboard! Do you have a magnetic holder on your electrical panel? Magnets may interfere with the breakers.

    Trailer Hitch Recommendations

I have a Curt hitch on my 2005 GTO and it has worked great, you can hardly see it when not towing. It was also designed specifically for my car, so it was a complete bolt on affair, no drilling required.

Radiant heat system, shutdown for summer?

I installed my own whole house radiant heat system last year. Mine is all one system. You need to keep the valves open to prevent stagnation. If your system is a standard setup, cold water from the city does not go directly to the water heater. It will go through the pex tubing in the floor...
