I put porcelain tiles down my self 2 years ago in my garage and while it was one of those jobs I regretted starting when I was about half way through it, I am very pleased I have done this over paint or epoxy etc.

I would say the first and best thing to sort out would be to get the floor done, as this is the hardest thing to do once you have fully moved in. I went with tiles on the floor mainly dude to the fact I could do one half then move all the stuff over to do the other side. It has been down a year...
