    12V AC vs 12V DC

So, it sounds like if I ran it 3-5 hours, it sounds like I'd end up needing nearly 50 watts of charger to comfortably keep the battery up. Lets visit what Kevin said. Are there any LED lights that will do 12V, put out the 850-900 lumens the halogen would, and have a wide flood pattern, such as...

    12V AC vs 12V DC

Any way to convert amp/hrs to watts? The most common chargers seem to be 5-15 watts. One 5 watt one I found is advertised at 1.5 to 2.5 amps a day output (dependent on light conditions)

    12V AC vs 12V DC

Ok, if I'm going to run one 50W bulb for 5 hours max every night, how much charger would I need to keep the battery topped off? I see solar chargers rated in watts and others in amps, or mA, as it were. And I understand it will vary with length of daylight (seasonal), cloud cover, etc. Keep in...

    12V AC vs 12V DC

You and I are on the same wavelength, my friend. The application is not close to any power source, so my idea was IF the bulb worked with a car battery, to use a solar charger to maintain the charge of the battery. I had the option of using a 12V photocell or a 12 timer to turn the light on and...

Wow, isn't there a "mutual inductance for dummies"? My head hurts :wtf:

    12V AC vs 12V DC

In theory...if a person is using 12V landscape lights, can he power them with a 12V car battery? Specifically, 12V MR16 halogen bulbs? The bulbs themselves don't say anything specific, just that they are 12V. I'm not knowledgeable enough about how a transformer converts 120V down to 12V and what...

Lighting up a Flag - Ideas?

I'm seeing several lights from spot to flood, anywhere from 20W to 50W, saying they work with existing low voltage landscape lighting systems. But...at the present...I have no low voltage lighting system. The one thought that goes through my mind is a light aiming up...rain coming down...making...

Lighting up a Flag - Ideas?

I'm working on a project to have a display piece at the base of my flagpole. I've never had a light out there (so I don't fly the flag as often as I like), but would like ideas as to illuminating both the flag at the top of the 15' pole, and the item at the bottom of the pole. I thought about a...

12' ceilings or scissor trusses?? or??

I did just that. I built with 10' sidewalls, scissors trusses over the lift for the 12' clearance, and the rest flat. In hindsight, if $$$ were no object, I'd have gone with 12' vaulted. Mine is 30x40. But it'll look a lot bigger inside with the vault. Where the flat surface of the ceiling goes...

    Ever grind wrenches to fit?

The cheapest wrenches have such poor metal, if you heat them up red hot, they'll still snap when you try and bend them

Some people line their garages with plywood, some people use OSB, maybe even sheetrock. Then some people get resourceful and use tool boards :lol_hitti

    120v Indicating Lights

That was me, and I ended up just using one light on one leg, just to show when the supply lines were turned back on in case of a power failure, and my generator was running. Every time I look out at my pole, I see the little blue light
