Early Weaver hydraulic jack help needed

Here’s a shot of the serial number on the cylinder.... the gentlemen at Weaver that I spoke to said that he had never seen one with a four digit number with no additional letters or jack capacity indicated....

Early Weaver hydraulic jack help needed

And here is a shot with the new parts “Mocked up” without the return springs for clarity. I believe I need to weld a couple of brackets, one for the handle rod, and one for the pump rod, but need a picture of what it should look like...

Early Weaver hydraulic jack help needed

I purchased this some years ago, and decided lately to drag it out of storage and restore it. It appeared to be an early WA-72, but the jack varied from the exploded diagrams on both the Castle and Weaver web pages. Other than needing a seal kit, it appeared that the other issue with the unit...

    Railroad Tie Retaining Wall

My comments were based on having recently retired from 37 years in railroad operations... You might want to read this before using ties in a residential setting.. They're great for holding gauge in an railroad setting, particularly in areas with great temperature fluctuations, frost heaving...

    Railroad Tie Retaining Wall

just my opinion, but I would remove the railroad ties and start fresh, using concrete or some type of precast landscape block designed for the purpose. Railway ties leech creosote and eventually rot. They are great for supporting rails, but not so great as a retaining wall.

Is this a good buy for a lathe?

Looks like a decent smaller lathe that saw some use, then has sat for a long time. Cleaning and lubrication should bring it back.. Any tooling would be good, And see if you can find out the history of the machine.. Definitely depends on location.. Around here that price would be ok, see if you...
