OOO, I never thought about that. What lifts offer that?

2 Post Lifts / Low Ceiling Height (10.75')

Thanks for the thread, this is my first time searching lifts, I never even thought of why people install tall doors when the car is inside, haha. That looks like a great alternative to a very tall door. This one is under your $3,000 budget (which is how much I would want to spend), but over...

    outlet location

Thanks for the thread, I am going to figure out where to place receptacles/outlets in my garage soon. Probably going to go 4', and I agree with the cord reel, I just ordered one from Northern. Are garages the same as house interiors where you can't be more than 6' away from an outlet anywhere...

Ideas on fluorescent lights and location

It looks like T8's will be fine for my application, the bulbs are much cheaper, last plenty long, and the fixtures are about half the price. It's not like I'm lighting a warehouse which is lit 24/7 where peak lighting efficienty is required.

Ideas on fluorescent lights and location

Thanks for all the pics in this thread. My lights will run parallel with the vehicles, on each side of them. I have been looking into lighting, went to Home Depot a couple days ago, looks like T5 lights are the newest, they had 4 bulb, 8' HO (high output) T5 (5'8" diameter)...

    How many recessed lights?

I stopped at Home Depot today. They now have T5 high output lights, 8', 4-bulb units, they sure put out a lot of light and appear lower profile due to the small diameter bulb. Hmmm, more to think about....

    Cans or Fluorescents?

Very nice! I too am deciding between cans or tubes. Went to HD today and saw those troffer lights. A mix like you did looks great.

Hydronic heat in 1.5 story, bring a leg of pex over from house...

Well, slab is done, but that panel radiator looks nice. Can they mount up near the ceiling and still work ok (I am thinking less likely to get damaged). Do you like these better than the fan blown ones (modine)? I like the idea of no fan.

Ceiling fan... concerned about shadows from lights above.

I had no idea recessed floursent tube lights existed. Tubes certainly do put out more light than hihats. These Halo IC lights are very reasonable though. I was thinking 5 rows of 5 (25 total) in the 23X23 ceiling, 8.5' tall. They would be spaced about 4' apart. As you said, and I read in...

    Is there a pit thread?

I am curious to see other pics of pits. My mother's house is a converted 7-car garage built around 1925, the last two bays remain (last one over the pit) after the first 5 were converted into living space in the 50's. Will take/find some pics.

Ceiling fan... concerned about shadows from lights above.

I am a fan of ceiling fans (no pun intended), have one in nearly every room in the house and two outdoor ones in the porch, they all run 24/7 on low or high in spring summer with windows open. Naturally I would like to add one or two low-profile outdoor ones in the garage (23X23 with 8.5'...

    How many recessed lights?

I figured I would use 6" cans, prob most economical too. I will see what my local electrical supply has/suggests. Thanks, I will consider that. You can certainly get more light out of tube light units. Thanks, what wattage/type bulbs are you using? Cans also give you the option to...
