    Rogue Supply Work Benches

Work benches seem fine, the story is BS...you aint making it to the front page of GJ for a week with out some money changing hands. Don't insult us with a contrived story.

Check out this home made all-wood car lift!

I like the wood box lifts and am planning one now. I'm going use 4 LB rigid foam and fill the cavities so there is no chance for a compressive failure. Triangles and a cross brace at the ends for racking stability. Seems much safer than a MaxxJack to me.

    Scissor lift ... downside??

I had a HF scissor lift. I sold it on. For what I do in the garage is was not much of a help. The piston rams and support bracing make engine swaps difficult. For me the engine crane legs would hit the lift. Also very difficult to do transmission and exhaust work. They are good for...

    Moisture resistant walls?

Don't use drywall. Use hardy board. You can "tape" the seams with thinset and mesh tape and finish with exterior paint... sanded if you like or tile it.

Just finished my garage, not happy with the flooring

I see two options here... none are easy or cheap....Concrete looks poorly poured. Grind or chemically remove the existing finished and tile it. Get a laser level and find the lowest point, if it's less than a 1/2 inch difference you can simply use a 1/2 notch trowel and get a nearly...

    Best value interior latex paint!

Behr paint at HD is excellent value for money. Its consistently rated at the top. If your walls are already painted specify "with out primer" because some times the people at the paint counter assume you want the more expensive 'paint with primer version', I've tried cheaper paints like...

Soft copper or PEX what's your opinion?

pex I'd choose Pex over soft copper based on price and flexibility. Why not used normal hard copper lines. Notch the joists or use a hole saw. They will out last the house. Sweating connections can be tedious but when you consider the longevity and durability of hard copper its hard to beat...

    Need a level floor

lol 2008... anyway...This stuff linked below will do the trick. The subfloor must be clean and oil free or it will crack and flake up. It's best to clean well then abrade the floor. Then mix and pour. You'll need the stuff mixed and ready to pour because once you start pouring you shouldn't...

    Garage ventillation

I had a raised ranch with all three bedroom over a very deep 2 car garage and I paint, weld etc. I sealed it up tight at the door and pipe protrusions and used one of these HF fans linked below. I fitted it to the ceiling and made it exhaust out the side with some 8 inch HVAC ducting. Then i...

    Air compressor explosion

few thoughts, please chime in.... I have my compressor in my basement utility room which is near a family room just separated by a sheet rock wall and wood door. What would contain a rupture? Should I build a cement block wall on the utility room side? Perhaps a length of PEX is a good fail...

Adding a sink to the garage, but no water

Two suggestions... 1. simply use a garden hose adapter for feed your sink, A simple on demand 110v point of use water heater will get the water corfortable for hand washing. 2. Pay a visit to your local detail or car wash shop and ask for an empty soap container with the cap. They are...

    septic system questions

pump often dont gamble. Every system is different. make sure you find out what you have...for example driving a truck over a concrete tank...no problem....driving a truck over a rusty steel tank could be a serious problem...it all depends on what you have. As for those who say to pump...

    septic system questions

You will know! It usually backs up but this is not an ideal way go about figuring it out. You should get on a pumping schedule. For a home of two people once a year should do. For 4 adults, twice a year will usually suffice. If you've just arrived in the home call and get it pumped asap...
