Update on my 150,000 BTU forced air. Was 30 degree outside today, had the furnace off and went out to do some work. Guessing it was maybe 35 degrees in building, turning the furnace on an 10 minutes later I was taking off my coat. Heater shut off in about 15 minutes and temp was in the upper...
Have decided to go with 200,000 forced air. With 16 foot foot ceiling running the tube down the middle was going to take up too much ceiling room. May want to put a basketball hoop in. Appreciate all the thoughts. May still add a little radiant in the future if needed. Thanks again.:D
In my case I was looking to keep it 45-50 most of the time and then kick it up to 55-60 when I'm using it. Was going to use part for shop and was thinking about putting a basketball hoop up.
I'm looking at a 200000 BTU unit for a 60X40 pole barn with 16 foot side walls. Pretty well insulated. My main worry is it being to hot under the tube(planning on running it right down the middle). Although it is a 2 stage unit ( puts out around 110,000 in low mode and 170,000 in high mode)...
I know. But then I take up room on the sides of the building, if I could run 1 larger tube down the middle, it would be better for me as far as layout goes. I have a guy saying 1 200,000 tube down the middle will do it.
stud frame type with steel skin. then insulation inside the steel and another inside layer of steel. There will be a flat ceiling below the rafters with insulation above that. Will try to post some pics.
BTW the 200,000 BTU unit is a 2 stage heater, so I'm not sure how much that plays into the choice. It would only run at the full 200,000 when it needed to raise temperature alot. Most of the time when it kicked on it would be at around 100,000
Have a 60X40 steel building up and in the process of getting wired and insulated. Had pretty much decided on forced air to heat it (I live in NE Kansas) but had a friend who put a radiant tube heater in. My main question is could I run 1 approx. 50 ft radiant tube heater down the middle of the...
Am in the process of designing a 60X40 metal garage with 16 foot walls and 24 foot peak. Live in Kansas so winters can be anywhere from moderate to brutal. I will keep tractor and pickup in the garage, but will only use it intermittently over the winter (maybe 2-3 times per week). Really...
