    Issue with garage door install

Door should be the same size as the finish cased opening, (not 6" larger as some have said), stop moulding is then installed on the outside to cover the gap - in most parts of the country, today it is a vinyl stop with a vinyl weatherstrip that rides on the face of the door (look at all the...

    Pennzoil synthetic for $1/qt.

I used to be in charge of fleet maintenance where I worked, we had 27 gasoline powered trucks, used the cheapest lubes we could find that met API standards for the vehicles we had, ran most to 200K, changed oil and filter every 7 to 10K, didn't have an oil related failure in the last 12 years...

Garage door remotes do not work when classic car is running.

With a little solder and some coax you could try moving your operator antenna to a remote place in the garage - the higher and closer to the front the better

    EZ-Lift 500 garage door opener

If all else fails, loosen the chain, remove it from the sprocket, run the operator full close with the chain off, close the door, put the chain back on. You should be able to then lengthen or shorten the drawbar arm for...

    Porvene vs Clopay doors

I would pick Clopay over Porvene (used to sell Porvene), and most definitely steer clear of CHI, they would be my bottom of the barrel pick

The photocells are as they should be one green one red on steady - a solid red led on the power unit indicates that the limits need to be set

convert to two horizontal lift springs

Keep the torsion it is a better, safer system. Yes they make spring winders, but they will cost you more than you want to spend for one time use - just call a local door co professional and have it done correctly, have them replace both springs at the same time, spring dimensions are critical.

    Most Durable Garage Door Opener

Linear is good, Genie/Overhead good, Chamberlain, Sears, Craftsman and all their clones are OK, but be prepared to change the gears somtime down the road. Everyone on here touts the 8500 - it is a good unit, I have two myself and sell them, but if you really want a top-of-the-line side mount...

    8'x22' garage door - Pros & Cons?

Two cost more, but are usually better than one - if one goes down, you can still use the other, less stress on the components due to less weight, and if the garage is heated, you will notice the difference opening one smaller one when it is -5 outside
