Kitchen can lights are not as bright as they used to be

Well, I checked the voltage at the switch on the dim string and it is 123 volts. Bulbs are definitely LED, brand is Cree. Moving one bulb from the dim string over to replace a bulb in the bright string and vice versa proves the one dim bulb is not defective because it is brighter in the other...

Kitchen can lights are not as bright as they used to be

We have two sets of 3 can lights in the kitchen run off two separate light switches. Prior to purchasing home 3 years ago the original owner claims to have installed LED bulbs. They are a flood light shaped bulb. Up until about 3 months ago all seemed o.k. With equal brightness from each set...

    Edging of asphalt driveway?

Best way is to edge the asphalt with brick edging or similar. Asphalt tends to spread out and crack with extended summer heat or crack if driving on it close to the edge. Nothing uglier than grass growing in cracks along edge of driveway.

What's the consensus on using Menards for garage construction materials?

About 5 years ago I purchased all materials from Menard's for a 24 x 36 garage build. This included all materials including Jeldwyn windows and insulated Clopay garage doors, trusses, etc. I spec'd all 1/2" plywood for sidewalls and roof, no OSB. I contracted with an Amish crew to build it for...

My Mr. Cool DIY Arrived Today!

Jakemedic, we moved from Fairfield Iowa to Florida a little over a year ago. Sounds like we came from the same neck of the woods. I want to install a mini split down here too. It gets at least as hot and humid hear as it does in Iowa

    Smart Electrician LED shop light

An update .... After about 18 months in service all 12 lights are still working perfectly ... Instant on in my unheated detached garage during cold months. No warranty claims, so far. Radio reception is excellent. I like them so well I installed eight more in my 24 x 28 garage attached to the...

Anyone have a garage door screen?

I have a 16 x 7 ft garage door. I would like to install a garage door screen in the opening to let fresh air in and keep bugs out in nice weather. I saw a nice one online but about choked on the $1000+ price tag. I think the brand name was lifestyler. I have seen the cheap ones that sell for...

Telescoping Flag Poles w/ "Bayonet" Connections

I have a Sunsetter aluminum telescoping flagpole that is probably 15 years old now. Works great. Company has good customer service. Flag pole is portable and can be used for tailgating if you buy the optional under ire support. It will fly two 3 X 5 ft. flags.

what do you keep in your garage?

I don't keep much in my 2 car garage attached to the house. One car, one workbench, 44" tool chest, small compressor, small shop vac, three 6' tall storage cabinets, 6' step ladder, and recycle/trash cans. It looks rather sparse in there. I don't like open shelves on the walls so there are...

Sticky Vinyl Tiles and Additional Adhesive

If the original vinyl is textured the new tiles might not stick well to the irregular textured surface. Also, if it does stick, the texture might transfer thru the new tiles and look like ****. Something to consider.

    work bench question...

I have a 24 inch wide x 8 ft long bench with .25 inch thick steel top, that is on locking casters. I like it portable to be able clean under/behind it. I am slowly getting everything I can on casters.

    Smart Electrician LED shop light

Not a huge downside in my garage. I installed 12 of these Smart Electrician LED shop lights and my radio reception is PERFECT. Don't know why you would have reception problems. Especially since I live in the sticks. Since they work so well, I bought 9 more to install in the 2 car garage...

Hot Dawg or Big Maxx or ?? For my garage and some questions

Would you expect there would be any fallout from an installer if the clearance would only be 7 ft 8 inches as opposed to 8 foot specified? I will likely hire someone to do the install. I just don't want some sort of problem where they would refuse to install it, etc. I can't believe it would...
