Good call. I really don't frequent estate sales, I used to but rarely had any luck and at this point in my life I don't have the time. I just happened to pass this one on the way to work.
Generally how the rest of that sale went. They had some vintage hi-fi stuff that I was interested in but they literally were asking what I would pay for a serviced unit off of eBay. That's why I was so surprised about these vises.
I'd been keeping my eyes out for a Wilton bullet vise for years that I could afford. About two weeks back I won a 4" bullet at a local auction for $155 ($200 even after taxes and auction fees). Today I took my son to a doctors appointment and stopped in at an estate sale on the way to work...
I've been wanting to pick up a slip roller for a while now and while usually I prefer older American made units, I found this on northern tools website:

The problem I've had with anything that's popped up locally from Pexto or...

Yeah, I was disappointed when I realized how expensive it was going to be. I called Wells index and confirmed that this was their new pricing.
That's why I plan...
Thanks! I'll let you know what I figure out when I get back to my shop.
I priced having the spindle reground and its around $700 now, just having a hard time spending that when the mill was less than half of that!
I built mine about 5 years ago:
It works well for what I need, but even when I finished it I remember thinking I should have just bought one. The wheels and some of the tubing were scraps, but I purchased a good amount of material still and probably have $600 in it. Since I built it after...
I've never owned a mill (or even operated one) but ended up with an index model 40 so cheap I couldn't pass it up. From all of my reading it has a Brown & Sharpe #9 taper and I know I can have the spindle reground with an R8 taper but I'd rather figure out the tooling on mine for now. I know...
I got $5 off the buy it now price, it was an okay deal but if I bought another case I'd be paying $20 more than any other on eBay. I guess I don't feel that I should have to ask if something is wrong if the description doesn't say anything about it.
That is the exact picture from the auction...
I purchased this snap-on impact driver set off of eBay last week and it arrived today with the tab to keep the case closed broken off. I paid a little less than what they seem to go for in used condition via the make offer but nowhere in the listing did it mention the tab was broken off. It also...
This popped up on a local for sale page, it doesn't offer any description other than unistamp. I'm curious as to what it is, google didn't help me. Is it just a stamping machine?
Well, that's super nice...way nicer than mine will ever be. I wish that mine at least had the original pedal, but no such luck. I'm afraid this will joint the ranks of the rest of my old tools/machines, it'll never receive the restoration that I'd like to give it because I'm too busy on other...
Picked it up for $270 on Saturday, it definitely needs some love but the blades are perfect. Both rear feet are actually broken off, I'll end up making something and bolting it on for feet. I figure for the money, it's worth a shot! Any idea how old it might be?
