    Columbian Hardware 604 1/2M Vise

Great find! I just picked up a 604 1/2 but it's nowhere near as nice as this one. Plus it's a Craftsman and have been told it's Japanese.

Columbian 4" bench vise-welded not cast

Thank you! Came out much nicer than expected. I got it in pretty rough shape, the only thing that didn't need grinding was the screw! But fortunately it was built like a Sherman Tank! Thanks again for your help, Zeus. I've decided my old Wilton is next!

    Antique acme threaded vise screw

It's called a Woodworking Tail-Vise. I just bought one from Woodcraft. Can be used any number of ways, I've even seen two of them used in tandem.

That's hilarious! I bet you get a flood of messages on that... can't find that color or anything that looks even remotely similar ANYWHERE, been looking for 2 weeks now. I only wanted to match my vise to my grinder and it's maddening!

Its funny you said Grizzly green, that's EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Why is everything comparable so impossible to find? No local stores and nothing on line.

Thats exactly what I did! Cut that ring off and found an e-clip and a nylon spacer to fill the gap!

Thank you for the replies! I had thought about replacing it with the collar and set screw they used on some of the newer ones, but the thought of drilling into the screw from an engineers standpoint... Well, it looks like E or C-clips seem to be the solution. Thanks again for the info! It's been...

Hi, new member here. I joined just to get the answer to this. I'm currently restoring my old 804 and am stuck at that ring holding the screw in! I really don't want to cut it. I see lots of beautiful 804s on here, and I'd really appreciate any info/tips anyone can give.
