What are ACCEPTABLE air leaks for you?

No leaks would be great but I do have two small leaks on my retractable hose reels. I have a main ball valve shut off above my compressor and shut that off when I leave the shop. The compressor holds 150 psi for weeks without turning on.

    Need a good crapper

Gerber Avalanche,Mansfield Summit or Kohler Cimmaron. I sell all three and they all flush great. I have 2 Gerbers's and 1 Mansfield in my house. My closet auger is rusting away in my garage.

    R22 versus R410A

Change out the coil to an R410A coil and scrap the old one. The price of the R22 to charge the system will be half the cost of the new coil. Plus you will be upgraded for any future service issues. R22 is selling for 300 bucks and R410A is 70 bucks in the Buffalo area.

    Black pipe 1/2" or 3/4"?

1/2" black pipe will be fine for running 1 air tool or a sandblaster at a time. I buy and sell about 20,000 pounds of black pipe and fittings a year. Lately it's all been coming from China and surprisingly, it has been very good quality. I've had more sand hole casting leaks in domestic fittings...

    Quick Copper Pipe Question

Re: Quck Copper Pipe Question Just make sure the joints are cleaned and you use a good quality clean flux. Old flux won't draw solder. I use Oatey #5. 50/50 solder flows easier than lead free too. Only get the fitting hot enough to flow the solder. if you overheat you will have problems.

    Roof Truss Plans

I looked into building my own scissor trusses and it was almost the same price as buying them. The truss manufacturers are geared up to knock them out quick and you can have rolled off at your work site in a matter of days.

? for the pro concrete guys

There are many on-line concrete calculators to use but as others have mentioned a lot depends on your grade. I poured my floor yesterday. Calculated 8.8 yards so I ordered 9 which is a full load. After the pour we had 2 five gallon buckets left over. They will make nice counterweights for my...

    Feedback thread for Exceller8

Thanks for the reminder. I also grab the safety glasses when running a grinder or saw but these accidents happen when we just try to something quick. Been there and I'm sure I'll do it again.

Plumbing question - need opinions please

I would reduce the pipe size to 3" and be sure to buy a 1.6 gpf toilet while uou can still get one. All manufacturers are in the process of switching to 1.2 gpf. Better yet look for a used (but clean) 3.5gpf. Also install a couple clean outs along the run.

    New Garage update.

No plans on a lift but I like the high ceilings and the structural strength of the scissor. We can get a heavy snow load on the east end of Lake Erie. Looked into attic trusses but they were twice the cost and I would have just filled the attic with junk I should throw out. Lol

Finished the siding today. Gutters and downspouts are going up tomorrow. Garage doors are coming Monday. Ill putter with the utilities as weather permits and pour the floor and aprons in the spring. First time in my life I get to park indoors. Wifey gets the attached garage for her car in the...
