    Hardened Hex socket bits?

I'd recommend the snap on gold finish items, I use them on a 1/2" impact gun! Part no.s are 210EFTAMY for the regular socket bits or 208EFTAMXSY for the short ones. These seem much stronger than the normal grey finish bits.

    Cleaning up rusty sockets

Has anyone noticed how fast the newer snap on impact stuff rusts? I bought some new 1/2" deep impact sockets a couple of months back and can't believe how quick they rust up. After I used them the first time, I opened the drawer the next day and was greeted by a brown socket! My boss has some...

BHH, nice tools. Do you just collect them? It doesn't look like they've been used.

Indeed we do. I've got plenty of snap on stuff but I'm not willing to part with the money for some slimline low torque wrenches. It's not like they need to be super strong. The snap on ones are $450! I actually only need a 15mm one in my job, it'd be nice to have a set and the facom set...

    rust removal...suggestions?

I used to work on gritter lorries, that makes your tools rusty! I'm mobile and usually work on vans and lorries, my tools (like me) are always getting wet so I regularly open the drawers the next day to see my latest tools rusting!

I've been trying to get some thin wrenches for a while, they seem really hard to come by in the uk.

That 1/2" ratchet looks looong! I want! Didn't know they made them that long.

my most recent "made in usa" tool purchase

I've got that and the 3/8 and 1/2" versions too. I assumed they were not USA made because they don't have USA on them?

    snap on quality gone downhill?

To the OP.. I know what you mean about the new ratchets, I've recently bought 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2" long handle, soft grip, flexi head ratchets. The engraving of the name and detail just looks cheap compared to the older ratchets, I was comparing them myself today. The old USA ratchets have smooth...

I Just Bought the Latest Facom Pear Head Ratchets... Used Them Today.

I've got a bit of facom stuff, ratchets (inc flexi's in all sizes) and the 440 spanners. I quite like the spanners, the head angle has come in useful and the ring end is very deep. I loved how fine the ratchets were, I've just bought the snap on 80's now which are even finer.

When I saw the title it reminded me of candle power forum, then I see you have a PD30. Assume you're into your lights? I had a pd31 which I sold a while back. Facom do a nice 4 sizes in 1 ratcheting wrench, would make a nice 'edc'

Man, you've got issues :bounce: but you may be able to answer me this..Did snap on produce a 9 piece Torx screwdriver set in the bright green? I want a set to contrast my red instinct screwdrivers, looking on the website they don't exist. Did wonder if they're just discontinued and I'd find...

    Breaker bars. Under utilized?

I trust the snap on one, yes. The fact it's so long must mean it's designed to be a breaker ratchet, otherwise what's the point. The longer the handle, the more torque you'll be able to put on it. I'd like to think it will withstand the torque you're able to apply on a long handle, I think...

    Breaker bars. Under utilized?

Rarely use a breaker bar these days when something like a long snap on 1/2" flex head ratchet is available. I guess if you've only got small size ratchets you need one, but the flexiblity of a long flex head ratchet is superb.
