I usually wear earphones when working in the garage so the air doesn't bother me. But the space issue is way higher then the sound. If I can get a large piece of gear outside and still use it all the better. As far as Mother-in-laws I just select music that she wouldn't like.

I have trouble trusting anything you can buy at IKEA as a quality piece of wood. I would be interested to see how it turns out, for the price it is worth trying. I would be worried about it holding up to general wear and tear.

You could install a motion alarm with a built in relay on the receiver. If you connect a bell to the relay it would give them a shock when the bell goes off. Probably enough to scare them away. Since most people break in the back or side, so you could arm it before you leave the front. If an...
