The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Anybody know what this is? It looked interesting at the local thrift shop. The drawer and runners are metal, everything else is wood. Maybe fake vintage. Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

    2021 Garage Sale Thread

After a new year of tool hunter drought I picked these two up this morning for $20 each. The problem is the box restores are starting to stack up... I’m somewhat comforted by the fact that I’ve seen some of your garages and figure I have a long way to go. Sent from my iPhone using The...

    Snap On TQFR250 Parts

Talked to the folks at Precision Instruments. Truly great people! Turns out they didn’t make my Snap On wrench. The tqfr250e is made elsewhere with global sourced parts. What a disappointment, I guess I shouldn’t be so naive. Anyways I bought the parts on the off chance they will work in the...

    Snap On TQFR250 Parts

I picked up this really clean split beam torque wrench for next to nothing because the setting indicator was nonfunctional. I figured I could fix it or sale it for parts if that failed. After taking it apart I found the main calibration screw is broken. It doesn’t appear the bolt was overly...

    2020 Garage Sale Thread

I picked this up today. It looks too clean to be vintage. Any of you military collectors know what it is? I’m thinking it’s going to make an above average electrical connector storage box. Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Hermann Boeker

Packaged, I have a similar story. When I was a pre-teen my grandfather gave me a Solingen pocket knife. He said “look after that knife because it is one of the few that can truly keep an edge”. Sure enough I lost it. Fifty years later I too still regret it. Sent from my iPhone using The...

Here are my 8”, 7”, and 6” H Boker & Company linesman pliers. I picked up the 8” today and discovered they’re made in Germany not USA like the other two. Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

Masterench by Heller Bros. Post em up!

Not the elusive 18”, but I acquired another 14” Masterench today. This one is a smooth jaw, Heller Bro’s, Newark, Chrome Vanadium. It almost looks like it is Cadmium plated but I suspect it’s just natural oxidation. Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Show your “Crowntop” Craftsman

I picked up this complete set of SAE deep sockets today. The set looks barely used with the exception of some of the minor wear on the smaller sockets. When I was cleaning the box with simple green the red letter came off the crown sticker, sigh! I guess I could restore it with a paint pin...
