I respect that and I respect electricity if I start to feel like im in over my head I'll consult the pros .....I had no hand in the wiring of the sub panel in the picture but I would like to get it fixed and expand my knowledge base at the same time as well as finally get to run this compressor...

Distance is relatively short I would guess in the 6 foot range or so and that is kind of crazy but not surprising to here about the box being all jacked up.....in the basement there are 3 wires for a plug in sticking out of the wall and they are still live I found out by figuring I should wiggle...
