    Motivx Tools

I have used the Motivx oil funnel for 6-7 years now. I have a different vehicle and went to buy the adapter for it and I noticed a lot of products are out of stock. Has anyone heard how Motivx is doing or have any context on the stock/ lead time situation?

What’s the deal with these conduit bodies?

We tend to use aluminum instead of RobRoy in refineries around the cooling towers. Aluminum is easier to work with than RobRoy, but still a pain to bend.

Above 1200 Sq/FT Eastern Washington Workshop

I was following your thread a few years ago, up to where you had the Nova in the shop for upholstery work, and I’ve been off GJ since then because it was costing me too much money 😂. Just logged back on in the last few days and caught up with all of the changes in your life and your shop. You...

Above 1200 Sq/FT The ASYLUM - Happy 40th Birthday to Me! (Est. 2005)

I would recommend Hubbell cord caps as well. I use the HBL5266C, HBL5266CA, and HBL5269C. https://www.hubbell.com/wiringdevice-kellems/en/Products/Electrical-Electronic/Wiring-Devices/Straight-Blade-Devices/Plugs-Connectors/c/2027723 There are also rubber boots available for these if you need...

    Splicing to NASA Standards

I would recommend the Panduit CT-1550 crimper as a general purpose ratcheting sta-kon crimper that will make quality crimps but is lower cost than Molex, Amp, and the other high end products. It's not sufficient for nuclear plants and may not work for things that fly, but I've made thousands of...

    Tapping 1” thick steel

You can tell from the style of lettering and manufacturer's identification that that tap is fairly old. I have some Greenfield taps from that era as well, if I am tapping new threads I will sharpen them with a stone before use. The nice thing about the spiral point "gun" taps is that the bevel...

    nest vs ecobee vs ?

I had a nest at my last house and installed an ecobee at my current house. I prefer the ecobee over near for many of the reasons previously mentioned, including the learning part of nest not working well or being useful. The ecobee schedule is easy to set up and the home/away settings work well...

That's a great deal on a screw compressor or dryer let alone both! Let us know when you get the HVL-H or 10EE and are ready to part with the SB heavy 10. I'm a few hours away in Ohio and may be interested. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    AGM Batteries

I would also recommend an AGM, and I agree with the general sentiment to stay away from Optima spiral type AGMs. If a flooded lead cell is deep discharged a couple times it will be basically shot*. AGMs are more resistant to deep discharging. It is possible to keep a battery charger connected...

Sub-Panel out of lugs on ground bus

Looks good - as others pointed out this gives you enough neutral and ground positions to make use of your future breaker spaces without having to rework anything in the future. By eliminating the extra neutral to ground bond it also lessens the risk of anyone in your house receiving an electric...

Need a cheap angle die grinder tomorrow

Yes, it will leave noticeable marks. I have the small HF needle scaler and I used it to clean up a trailer frame where an angle grinder won't fit. It isn't as fast as bristle discs, I only used it to fit into corners where the discs won't fit, or next to edges that would tear up a bristle disc.

Sub-Panel out of lugs on ground bus

Possibly nothing. Some ground bar instructions explicitly state that 1 or 2 size #14 or #12 wires may be terminated under each screw. But if your particular brand of ground bar doesn't allow that in the instructions and you have an insurance or fire investigator picking through your panel after...

Sub-Panel out of lugs on ground bus

The neutral and ground should be bonded together at exactly one place in an electrical system*. In this subpanel there is a metal jumper from the neutral bar on the right to the ground bar on the left. Your main breaker panel will also have some sort of jumper or screw that ties the neutral and...

Sub-Panel out of lugs on ground bus

Are you out of positions on the ground bar or the neutral bar? They should be separate on a subpanel - the neutral should be insulated from the enclosure and the ground should be bonded to the enclosure. Some neutral and ground bars permit two wires under one terminals and some don't, so the...

    Tooling (Re)Organization

Hmm, I was about to buy some black laminate for the top of a Ron Paulk chop saw bench. Toledo Plywood has white and black in stock, I haven't asked how much more costly other colors are. What do you recommend that won't show a lot of wear? White seems like not a very good idea either. Sent...
