    Date Needed. Fordson Tool Box

You’re welcome. I just finished watching an old rerun of Green Acres. The tractor featured in various episodes and referred to as a “Hoyt Clagwell” is actually an old Fordson. The opening credits feature a John Deere, but Ford sponsored the show so a Fordson was used when the episodes were...

    Date Needed. Fordson Tool Box

The tractor that could be started with a blank shotgun shell was the English built Field Marshal, not the Fordsons. The US built Fordsons were battleship grey with red wheels. The toolbox was grey. I think they were built from around 1914 to 1927. Production continued in Ireland and England...

Which 8-point sockets? ‘Complete” socket set

I have Craftsman for the smaller sizes, then Williams from 3/4 inch up. I didn’t find them in a complete set, but bought them as I needed them and then filled in the gaps later.

    SK roto ratchets.. What happened?

I ended up buying the Kobalt roto ratchet copy when I couldn’t get an original SK.

    Old 1/4" socket set

Eight point sockets work on square headed nuts, bolts, pipe plugs and set screws. It’s a good idea to have a few of them for pipe plugs.

How big of compressor is available in 110 volts

The largest 110 volt I’ve seen is 5hp with a 30 gallon tank. Stay away from the oil free models. They are loud and have a short life.

    Craftsman Professional

Don't know the year they changed, but I got my SK made set in 1996. I bought the larger sizes and SAE wrenches in 2008, and they were made by Armstrong. I bought most of these as singles, so the SK stock was gone by then. That's a wide range, but maybe it helps you a little.

I want to go metric - anyone other Americans done this

The same can be said about SAE. Most people that use it daily can look at a bolt head and tell its size without measuring. And most weldors can look at a plate and tell whether it's 1/8, 3/16 or 1/4 without measuring. It comes with experience.

    Length of SK wrenches?

I have a set of early Craftsman Proressional metrics, which are just rebranded SK long pattern wrenches. I wouldn't hesitate to buy SK, but I would buy the long pattern instead of the standard. The oval shaped beam is more comfortable than the Armstrongs I have.

What is your "go to" ratchet.

SK 45170 for 3/8 drive, Williams S-52 if I need 1/2 inch drive.

Best ways to organize a bunch of small parts?

I use one of those metal boxes with the clear plastic drawers for small items like hex nuts. You can sort by size, threads, grade, etc. I use one of those Harbor Freight racks with the yellow plastic bins for bigger items like bolts, lag screws, etc. Deck screws, large nails, fence staples go in...

    Miller Thunderbolt 225. Any Experience?

I've owned a Thunderbolt 225 AC/DC model since about 1988. I replaced the cooling fan about three years ago. The long leads are a definite plus, so I would that's a fair price.

    Tools on wall

I use 3/4 plywood walls and 2 inch finish nails. It's about as cheap as you can get and it holds some heavy tools. I don't worry about it getting brittle with age like pegboard. If the finish nails aren't enough, you can always step up to 16 penny nails.

Let's Kick it Old School....Names You Remember Throughout the Years

Actually, CruiseOmatic was Ford's replacement for the FordOmatic. Mercury had the MercOmatic. Along that same line, AMC had the Tork Command and QuadraTrac.
