Not a sparky, but I think that simply means that the incoming cable goes to the switchbox first, and then to the light fixture. In other words, no switch loops, since there must be a neutral in the switchbox. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk

There is absolutely no need to replace each receptacle with a GFCI. You should have them on the first receptacle for each run in locations that are within 6 feet if a water source, such as your bathroom and kitchen, as well as all circuits that lead to receptacles in your garage and basement...

Not sure about the code requirrments, and I have never seen anything but the "tang" (as you call it) holding the wore where it enters the box. If you do have to replace it, it is a simple matter of using a sawzall to cut the nails of the old box, and buy a new "old work" box to replace it...

Remove the switch from its box, and tell us which color wires are connected to it. If the switch has one black and one white wire connected to it, switch removal would be a simple task. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
