i did think about doing that...but i didn't want a long, snake-of-an-extension cord all over the garage floor. i thought it might be something to trip over while working so i decided that a neatly installed outlet on the wall would be more organized and then a shorter extension cord if i needed...
thank you everyone for taking the time to post your thoughts on the subject. i am more educated about the types of electrical wiring available. i ordered #6 gauge romex and will replace the soow cord i had used initially. much appreciation and please have a good day, everyone!

i'm installing a 240v receptacle in the garage. i made the mistake of using #6 gauge soow cable and a friend pointed out that i needed to use #6 gauge romex wiring. i had thought that "wiring is wiring...as long as it's the same gauge." i'm in the process of replacing the soow wiring with romex...

In the Liftmaster 8500 manual it says:
"THIS GARAGE DOOR OPENER IS COMPATIBLE WITH:
• High lift (up to 54 inches (137.2 cm) high) and standard lift sectional doors up to 14 feet (4.3 m) high."
I did not understand what this meant so I called Liftmaster technical support and...
