Ok I got the tank nut off. The leather cup was in chunks laying in the cylinder.When I put it back together what should I use to seal the tank to the tank nut on top and the base on the bottom? Normaly I would use silicone but I don't know how the jack oil will react to it.

Thank for the reply. I guess i'll need the long pipe on the end of the pipe wrench for the tank nut, it's TIGHT.

I was hopeing there was someone that has taken one of these apart. Is the end cap of the cylinder left or right hand thread? I can't get it loose. Also how tight should the nut be on the pump plunger?
