Seeking advice on 4 post lift

Who did you go with? I'm in the Dallas area and been looking for a 2-post but I haven't seen anyone advertising they'd do the install; just sell the lift.

my way to quiet down my oilless compressor

I've seen plans online where people built enclosures for their compressors to reduce the noise. Never seen anything bout using a muffler so that is a creative idea.

What would you put in a tool box?

I would probably do some type of multimeter as well.

Hand Cleaner that won't tear your hands up

I also use Permatex Fast Orange. Works well for most things (dirt, oil, etc). Not so much for poly and oil based paints (IE anything that requires harsh chemicals to remove).

What air filter do you guys prefer?

3 at 8, I have an '07 F150 and everything I've read says leave the air intake stock. It apparently runs cooler than the after market intake kits. The '04 - '06 models had some issues running lean when a CAI was added running the stock ECU tuning so its recommended if you use a CAI to get the...

    comparison of major epoxy brands

That chart is a good comparison. Basic differences will be the thickness of the finished coating, strength, and curing time. Your needs/use will determine which product will be best for you.

    DIY Garage Door Insulation

Just my $0.02 but Home Depot sells a kit online made by Owen Cornings. Each kit does a single width garage door and costs about $70. I did it at my old house and am going to do the same for my new house. The kit has R8 pre-cut to common sizes to fit between the rails of the garage door. Each...

    Concrete Wall and Moisture

I would find out what the source of the moisture is. If its from the soil around the garage (since its built into a hill) then it sounds like the concrete wasn't properly sealed outside. If so the moisture is going to be an ongoing problem which could lead to erosion of the concrete. If its...

    Shop Security – Window Bars

Too bad booby trapping is illegal. Otherwise I would say run an electric line to that bar. It would be like a life-size version of Operation. If the crack head can get in without touching the bars he wins what he can grab and run off with. On serious suggestion would be to modify the bars...

    Best one-line advice?

If it f*cks, flies, or floats; its cheaper to rent it.

first box, stuck between craftsman and kobalt

In both product lines... you have to put some money down to get a decent quality box. If it was me, I'd go with Craftsman. Even tho they're both likely imported products... at least Craftsman seems to have more selection in case you want to add to your setup later. If you're going to lay your...

Anyone have one of these HF boxes?

I have this box... got it for $129 or something like that. I'm not in love with it but it does the job. Basically bought it as an interim solution until I get my garage organized the way I want it. Comes assembled except for the handles which are fairly easy to assemble. Metal is a little...

Truck advice - school me on pre-Super Duty ford diesels

I've been looking at getting an old F-series as well. I'll tell you ... my grandfather has a '96 F-150 with the 302... it seems like the minimum you'd want to have on the truck. If feels like its enough power to move the truck but not so much you run away with it. I'd worry that the I6 might...

    Mechanic's Seat

I have the Harbor Freight swivel stool and its not too bad. It rolls around my garage no problems even when I'm sitting on it. I put some magnetic part holders in the bottom and does a great job keeping my tools from falling out. Only complaint is that the seat padding is limited so its not...

    School me on saw blades

A "good" blade is going to one that is sharp and has enough teeth to provide the cut you want. Something with less teeth like 24 teeth is normally used for cuts that won't be exposed or finished pieces (IE framing). This would be for something like studs or ripping plywood. For anything that...
