I've seen plans online where people built enclosures for their compressors to reduce the noise. Never seen anything bout using a muffler so that is a creative idea.

I would probably do some type of multimeter as well.

I also use Permatex Fast Orange. Works well for most things (dirt, oil, etc). Not so much for poly and oil based paints (IE anything that requires harsh chemicals to remove).
